“As the Conservative Party of BC weathered an onslaught of campaign controversies involving hateful comments made by candidates in the past and during the provincial election, leader John Rustad did nothing. Rustad either abdicated his responsibilities as leader, or didn’t understand the assignment.”

He understood perfectly well. His actions fully endorse the abominable behaviour of his party members. He was hoping that the election would go in his favour so he could believe that the majority of British Columbian’s share the views of his morally repugnant cohorts. But we don’t. And we didn’t vote them in.

Ehhhhhh, I disagree with him but if my party were in the same situation, I’d probably argue for the same course of action.

While the candidates are regrettable (and the fact the Conservatives attract those types says a lot) for anything I really believe in, I’d put achieving policy over outrage.

If the NDP had dropped candidates in safer ridings and the Conservatives had won, well, I think that would have been super damaging to the education system, to the environment, to the childcare we’re implementing and MUCH more. I have a hard time imagining any statements that would outrage me enough to inflict that Conservative damage on the province. And while I disagree with Conservatives, they feel the same way about the NDP and that’s totally fair.
