Rust@programming.dev•When you begin writing Rust like this...
2·1 year agoI find it really charming how i can sort of see what you’re doing even though I’m a complete beginner in this language and we’re talking about allocators :^).
That said, the update is greatly appreciated.

Rust@programming.dev•When you begin writing Rust like this...
12·1 year agoIf possible, I’m sure this community would love reading a blog post about exactly this.
Myself, I’m in uni and don’t really have time to make new projects in rust and would greatly appreciate to read what you have to say about this :)

Free and Open Source Software@beehaw.org•Looking for a PDF viewer with a specific feature
2·1 year agoReplied to schnurrito with the answer. In short, i want to view files in a directory as one would view photos in a gallery, as I can’t always tell beforehand which file is relevant to me and I’d like to be able to move quickly between files, instead of opening many files and then closing the irrelevant ones.

Free and Open Source Software@beehaw.org•Looking for a PDF viewer with a specific feature
2·1 year agoThat’s pretty close to what I’d be looking for, yes, a problem I’m having with common pdf viewers is that I’d need to open the files I’d want to read from beforehand, instead of just passing to the next file like i would in a gallery.
This requires that I’d know which files are relevant to me before reading said files.
That said, my use case does sound unique so I’m not surprised it’s hard to figure out what im looking for :)

You Should Know@lemmy.world•YSK There’s someone running around Lemmy posting misinformation against Wikipedia
133·2 years agoi would call being resistant to misinformation, being a force against misinformation, is that enough to warrant calling it a force for truth?
They do it for free, too, what more you can ask for? Well you can unreasonably ask them, these people, humans, fallible biological machines, to “be” correct 100% of the time, even when moderators may not be available, even when people didn’t yet report misinfo, something you’d never ask anyone else to do or be.
Oh wait you did ask that, so I think there’s a very good reason to believe you don’t really care for what you preach.

linuxmemes@lemmy.world•Reminder for Windows 10 users who can't upgrade to Windows 11
1·2 years agoI don’t want to keep windows because i like it, i need to keep it because I won’t have enough time to migrate all at once, knowing how complicated windows is.
I’m basically going to migrate little by little, as much as i need every session, i also don’t know how to use linux much so i expect to learn with time.

linuxmemes@lemmy.world•Reminder for Windows 10 users who can't upgrade to Windows 11
2·2 years agoHuh, and i just installed it on my secondary computer (laptop). Maybe i should setup a dual boot on my main one soon and disable network communications in the windows partition, and then migrate ny files slowly until i can confidently get rid of that partition.
Quality content 👌🏽✨

Linux@lemmy.ml•New to linux, would like some help setting up dual boot.
2·2 years agoHad a linux moment yesterday, piped “clang --help” into grep to find something, it wasn’t there but the piping itself was awesome.
Don’t have anybody else to tell lol

Linux@lemmy.ml•New to linux, would like some help setting up dual boot.
2·2 years agoI’m finally back, apparently linux mint comes with ntfs handling out of the box, just opened the file explorer (nemo), and opened a picture successfully.
Only step left is disabling booting through windows.

1·2 years agoIt’s about the files, not the OS

That clears it up, thank you very much :)
