Well, in 1933 when the NSPD came to power they had 43% of the seats in parliament (I haven’t found the percentage of the total votes but I imagine it was much less). That did not prevent them from repeating the elections at the end of that year and getting more than 90%, you can imagine how.

Even a part of popular culture accepts that they came to power by winning elections and the German people feel and felt the shame that they came to power by democratic means, which is only half true.

I feel sorry for the American people, but they elected this team under the same rules of democracy as their previous presidents. To claim now that his election was not democratic is to distort the facts.

  • I guess everyone has their own turning point, but Reddit seems to have a new controversy every two weeks, so I suppose things will just keep escalating here.

Personally, I jumped ship during the API controversy, not because it directly affected me, but because ever since I discovered federated networks with Mastodon, I’ve thought it’s the perfect idea (in fact, I had an account on the server that disappeared even before that). I have accounts on all the federated networks, even though I don’t use them much, and I’d love to see them replace the traditional ones.

    In any case, welcome

  • I carry here as a year and a half (before I was in another instance that closed) and I can say that the increase in traffic, participation, comments, vows etc. For a couple of months it is remarkable.

I don’t know if it’s for Trump pushing Europeans and Candadia outside their products, for Reddit turning its platform into shit full of bots and unpopular standards or a combination of both, but I think that the network and community is doing really good (we even have a community of conservatives, half a year ago something like that would be unthinkable)

  • Replacing US big-tech with EU big-tech is the stupidest thing we could do. An oligarch is an oligarch no matter where he is and he will try to buy your government as Musk has done with the USA, the only solution is to prevent anyone from having so much money/power

It’s not that there are no millionaires, it’s that no one has more money than the government that represents the people.

As I said, it varies from one country to another, but some kind of agreement with a high military command is usually required. In any case, she is currently the head of the European executive power, she was elected by the citizens less than a year ago, yes, she should be an important point in this regard. She and whoever her successor is in the future

Nextcloud is not the same as Google Drive. Element is not the same as Netflix. Recommending bluesky as a replacement for X is at least misleading, it is neither European nor free nor is it anywhere near better than X.

Edit: Stremio comparison with Netflix wanted to say

  • While I agree that full integration under the EU-27 is impossible in practice, I do believe that something like monetary union would be possible. A two-speed union where those who are prepared are quickly integrated and those who do not want to are left out, still covered by the article 42 of the Lisbon Treaty, but without common forces based on its territory, that could make the difference between repelling an invasion or being released later, so there would still be strong incentives to want to enter.

I am aware that it is also politically complex, but I do not see it as impossible with the current climate.
