Asklemmy@lemmy.ml•If you were born with a disease that made you blind, complete loss of hearing by 20, have seizures, require a feeding tube, colostomy bag, wheelchair and have sleep apnea. Would you want to live?English
2·1 year agoNo. My main reason for wanting to live as is is so I can improve the world for others, and in that situation I’d just be a drain on society, and also suffering.
If I was a parent I would not make decisions for my child, assuming they are capable of making decisions, it’s not my choice whether they should live or die. By the same token, I wouldn’t bring then into the world in the first place, however, as they cannot provide consent to live.

Asklemmy@lemmy.ml•What would you do if you were an 8 year old again, with your current mind (including memories and skills)?English
4·1 year agoSorry if it wasn’t clear. I intended it to mean you were sent back in time to when you were 8, but you can interpret it however you like.

Technology@lemmy.zip•Russia restricts calls via WhatsApp and Telegram, the latest step to control the internetEnglish
4·1 year agoThis is coming to Europe soon if people don’t get their act together against the Online ‘Safety’ Act and its copies. A temporary workaround could be installing GrapheneOS on your Pixel phone in Russia, and using Tor and Signal in the meantime to access the internet, however.
I’ve used Lemmy since I was 16. I am however an adult.

Asklemmy@lemmy.ml•Why do people wake up in the morning and then sit staring into space for about 20 minutes?English
15·1 year agoI’m sometimes tired when I awake, if I didn’t get enough sleep the night before. Also, it’s kind of like the ADHD thing when you know you should do stuff, but you just sit there consciously doing nothing, although you don’t want to be. That also sometimes happens for a bit until I finally start doing stuff.

Not even close to the horrors of an Orwellian society and saying it is is an insult to the characters in those books. It isn’t great though, and it’s heading in a troubling direction
From the other post, as with all others, is linked and we don’t have to multiple post comments too

Programmer Humor@programming.dev•vibe coders discover "coding"English
577·1 year agoThe reason is that humans are expensive, and they don’t want to spend their time programming simply if they can get an AI to give them a functioning project with much less time and effort - at least, commercially.

Of course they do. But the VPNs people use to bypass the law will just ignore the law anyway, especially ones such as Tor.
