Asklemmy@lemmy.ml•What is a movie that "looks like" it would suck, but actually is well written and acted and a good time?
6·1 year agoThe second one is more generic, but I agree with the first one
My PC didn’t support boot from CD, so I had to use about 6 WinXP floppies just to load the necessary drives to install from the CD. Good times
I think we also had the Win 95 and 98 installallers somewhere although I learned how to do it when upgrading from 98 to ME

2·2 years agoSame but “working” from home
Strava allows to compare previous sessions and shows if you are faster or slower than your rolling average. It also tracks your intensity levels and can track by month or year
I actually don’t like strava for tracking my exercise in real time but I upload it there for analysis. It also has some community features where you can see how your friends are doing

Asklemmy@lemmy.ml•Would you have a drink at lunch and then go back to work?
5·2 years agoIn my previous job I had to travel very often to customer’s sites or or other offices
The ones in Germany drank regularly during lunch time. I never felt comfortable to do it since my job was very technical. In one office they even had a fridge full of beers and wines that you could grab freely. I never saw anybody drinking at the office tho

4·2 years agoThis is not how all plug in hybrids work. This is a specific type of hybrid usually called in-series. The engine is not connected to the powertrain and it only supplies energy to the battery or motors
The biggest “issue” is that now you have a generator in your car making a constant noise that is not “attractive” or feels “luxurious” which unfortunately the people with money to adopt new technologies look for
Ram is releasing one soon https://www.caranddriver.com/news/a45734742/2025-ram-1500-ramcharger-revealed/
BYD and Nissan have similar technologies, but it is not widely adopted yet

Buy European@feddit.uk•Originally Dutch, Booking.com is now owned by a US holding and has a 45% market share. Book directly through the hotel, it's generally cheaper
10·2 years agoI travel a lot and it’s extremely rare to find a better rate directly through the hotel than using booking, priceline or expedia. This websites usually get rooms in bulk to re sell
Booking is my least favorite and priceline is becoming my go-to. I do try to cross check the reviews and pictures from different websites. Sometimes a 9.5 on booking is a 3 stars on google
My Walmart has a lot of very bad cats so I always grab one at the parking lot since at least it survived a whole trip for someone
They enabled some AI in Outlook for some of us as beta testers. You write a few words with the basic idea of the mail and it bullshits it into a full page full of nonsense with your initial words “summarized” in some bullet points most of the times
Then when you receive one of those emails it can summarize it into just a few words

161·2 years agoDid they really sold any? I’d think they all went to tech reviewers and influencers
One thing I’ve been noticing is that lately they been getting dumber.
For example this one doesn’t need any of the “dialogs” nor Elon’s name tag to convey the message

Mostly is because it’s mixed for 5.1
The center channel takes care of most of the dialog and the rest is distributed to 4 satellite (and usually smaller) speakers but when it’s down sampled to stereo everything has the same level
