I’ve got your exact hardware configuration and use case. Pop_OS broke on me after 18 months due to GNOME extensions I think. OpenSUSE Tumbleweed with KDE Plasma works really well for gaming/coding and general use, though I’m dual booting for Ableton Live on windows and the occasional VR.

I’m in a country town in Australia, fortunately we have a good mountain bike trail network close by that I try to go to weekly. Karri and jarrah trees as well as some pine forests, loamy soil, a small river running through the middle of the network. It’s a beautiful area.

Ah yeah that’s a predicament. Do you know what distro you are going to be using? If you haven’t decided, Fedora with GNOME as the DE is a good bet. Otherwise Zorin or Ubuntu, again with GNOME. Apparently that DE is better for devices with touchscreens.
The prices I’m seeing people trying to flog their 6th gen i3, RTX 960 computers on Facebook marketplace beg to differ. Absolute dreamers in the used market for tech.
