Bing is used more than people think. It’s also used by sites like DuckDuckGo, Qwant, Swisscows, etc.
As for why: They want them to train their own replacement. Also as a way to justify all the money they spent.

For your sake, I hope you’re lying because you like monopolies.

It’s basically impossible to block everything, although most of what you listed in a comment is unavailable to websites. To minimize what is available you can use ublock origin, umatrix and user-agent switcher.

I know someone who joined on a bet that he couldn’t get in, and he said the exact same thing.

Yes, but the manager with a shitty MBA doesn’t care about overall company appearance of performance, as long as their department looks good on paper. And they figured that would be easier by using four different external libraries, and then let another department figure out the rest.

Yeah, he learned nothing. He’s just upset that everyone didn’t agree with him.
He’s going to keep pushing the same nonsense as soon as the attention blows over, and he’ll be just as surprised when it goes bad.

They’ve started telling people they’re blocking content for anyone who use adblock. It also seems like they might be shadowbanning those who don’t comply after a while(account can’t play any videos, but works fine when logged out or on other accounts, but zero notification from them about any wrongdoing).

Stop bringing things like facts or the truth into this!
-Seemingly most modern media in regards to American republicans.

Yeah it’s an early version and I have no doubt that you guys will make it a lot neater, and it seems like a nice project. I just think it breaks several basic rules of privacy and security oriented programming, which is why I don’t think it’s a good fit for this community just yet.

It’s html and javascript, the release comes with loose chromium files, ffmpeg binary and a 190MB executable. The link typo hasn’t been fixed in hours, they don’t link to the github, they misuse terminology, etc. and it’s version 0.3.
That’s a no from me.
I don’t remember it being revealed what Rob’s job is, but he is transferred from New York to Paris just before the start of the first movie. And it’s his townhouse in NYC that is used in Home Alone 2.
Same thing that’s wrong with imgur and many other websites: It was made for a singular purpose, but over the years it was turned more and more into a commercialized social media platform.
If you open fandom now, about half the page is filled with links, images, popouts, side bar, bottom bar, sliding bars, unhidden elements, notifications, etc. trying to get you to join their “community”, and things like that. It’s automatically playing videos. They stopped letting people have custom looks for hosted wikis(all has to follow the fandom look so they can enforce their “community” nonsense). And that’s with adblock. Without it’s actually hard to find what is the real content, since there are about a dozen ads covering everything.
I really wish this stupid meme would die.
They say it and refer to it multiple times during the opening: THE UNCLE THEY ARE VISITING IS THE ONE PAYING FOR THE VACATION.

As someone who has been the “deal with C-suite issues” IT guy, that is honestly accurate.

It’s pretty common to avoid using products from other companies in PR photos and during promotional events/announcements(if there’s no deal). And the prominant picatinny rail is enough to tell any potential buyers that they can attach almost anything they want.

Yeah, it sounds like they’re trying to downplay how they disimissed the tech as “outdated” during design and construction.
No, people who commonly do bad things, will often justify it to themselves and others by thinking most people do the same thing. And despite their protesting and arguing, they’re pretty much always wrong.
I’ve heard more than one petty thief confidently claim that “everyone” steals something like a candybar when they go to the store. And it’s why there are so many stories of cheaters accusing their partner of cheating.

It’s all C-suite executives pushing this onto executives below them, who push it onto their organizations as mandates.
That is currently the core of the issue. It’s tech-bros and executives gassing eachother up, and most are too far gone to realize that they’re heading for a cliff.
Based on the drop in Safari usage on mobile and desktop, and the increase in Firefox and Opera usage. I’m sort of assuming they swapped over to use the builtin VPN in opera or an extension in Firefox to bypass the blocks.
