They make cool stuff, but they are ultimately an advertising company (as in that’s their main source of revenue). So by all means enjoy the cool stuff, just proceed with caution and of course assume nothing is permanent!
There’s no .uk and there never was!
Ooh interesting, I’ve been considering what to do when my Pebble eventually packs in, do you think this is a worthy replacement?
Offer device makers or carriers money or perks to preinstall the Play Store
Does this cover GApps in general, I wonder?
it wanted … Google to stop being able to tie Android APIs to Google Play.
I feel this would have been really big news
The Apple case is already over, and Apple mostly won
Seems crazy that Google is forced to open up when Android is already kind of open but Apple get away with keeping iOS very closed
Offer developers money or perks to launch their apps on the Play Store exclusively or first
Lol, as if Epic got away with this given that it’s exactly what they do with PC games!
Ah that’s a shame, I guess the ones I’ve seen in the past must have been a bit simpler
And if you want to not bother with the systems you don’t have I’d imagine that would make it simpler and cheaper too
Why Google allows apps to block a system service from inputting information is beyond my understanding, but it’s absolutely infuriating, and just discourages the use of these tools.
This is the really annoying bit
That’s been the case for a long time, this xkcd is at least a decade old!
I foolishly did that right away so I must have never seen the extra nagging
Was 10 actually alright early on in its life, or was I just unaware? I don’t remember any of the advertising and spyware crap back when I first upgraded from 7.
Look, I’m not trying to say there aren’t real security/privacy issues that aren’t being exploited right now, my citation needed was regarding this comment:
The silicon probably has the ability to live stream all sensor data directly to the NSA using the fanciest ML compression technology lmao.
The articles you linked are real issues that have been documented, OP was arguing that Google phones specifically are bad because of this statement they pulled out of their arse.
So a few interesting points, but nothing even slightly like what OP was suggesting.
I’ve not really thought about it before, but he really is trying to make himself the centre of attention. He’s always making statements, handing out medals, being seen on the grid with the drivers. I couldn’t even name another FIA president except Max Mosley, and his complaint with the British press was that they talked about him too much!
Citation needed. I get that it’s healthy not to trust anyone, but with the amount of security research that goes into these devices if something like that was happening then we would know about it.
BLASTED
Alonso never misses an opportunity to stir shit up!
Don’t be hasty
Fair, I do remember eating a lot of Tesco Value chocolate back in the day
