This is one of several reasons being able to edit links is not great - too confusing.
Also, this is a personal recommendation, but I’d suggest still just posting YouTube links as there are more alternatives then just Piped out there and while all of them integrate YouTube links seamlessly, they don’t necessarily work well together (eg Piped links won’t work with Newpipe, etc).
