edit: now it’s a meme and we can all hug in the comments.

Quality needs to be enforced, I know “funny” is subjective but everyone can see this is not a meme so it shouldn’t even be here.

Approximately 99% of stuff that gets posted here are not memes. I think you’re fighting a losing battle here.

Oh I know, but even if there’s a very little chance, things won’t get better if nobody complains.
ITT: people butthurt about some random guy hoping there would be memes in a meme community.
Congrats, we are already as shitty as reddit.

You know I was looking at some of the architecture down town today and thought to myself, “just think, none of this would be possible if there wasn’t someone critiquing mud huts 10000 years ago.”

Can we, without relentlessly criticizing, let people have their un-funny, non-memes and screenshots and whatever little harmless things in which they’ve managed to find a tiny shriveled flower of joy?

IMHO an idea that spreads person to person, not just PSAs that are unlikely to be shared further.

So the avocado face on the bottom right of this image IS a meme. And if this Tweet turns into a copypasta, then it’s a meme.

I’ve seen this particular tweet like a dozen times now, so it’s definitely spread far and wide. Some people only think of image macros as memes, but yes the broader definition I’ve seen is essentially a viral concept.

Did you even SEE the avocado with a face? Meme.

      /s if needed…

You’re 100% right. But I’ve seen comics and tweets do well here, so this post isn’t going against the norm

If there was some other place to post that would get the same traction I’d gladly put it there. But its not really that big of a deal at the end of the day

But it will be (already noticeable), people post whatever, people upvote blindly and we end up having a meme community without memes and we were already at low quality so it just keeps getting lower.
I know people crave upvotes for some reason, but this only makes a community lame and worth ignoring.

yes I posted stuff that doesn’t fit the community but everyone else is doing it

The community of users collectively decides what does and doesn’t belong here
