Reports have found that the claims in the paper’s “Screams Without Words” article are questionable, if not fabricated.

Dozens of tenured journalism professors at top schools across the U.S. have raised concerns that The New York Times is risking its own credibility, as well as the credibility of journalism at large, with its inaction on an article about sexual violence on October 7 that has come under scrutiny in recent months due to its reliance on questionable — and, in some cases, debunked — evidence.

The story, entitled “‘Screams Without Words’: Sexual Violence on Oct. 7,” was widely circulated after its publication in December and has been used by government officials and Zionist groups to supposedly justify Israel’s genocidal brutality against Palestinians in Gaza.

There are plenty of reasons to criticize Israel, but sweeping rape under the rug doesn’t make the case against Israel stronger.

You can oppose both Israel and rape.

What rape? You posted a link to the same newspaper that, literally in this same thread, has been objectively shown to have lied about rape, and refused to print a retraction despite knowing the allegations were false. At the very absolute best, her accusations are highly suspect for that reason, but seeing as it’s the NYT, I’m not willing to give them the benefit of the doubt that they are anything more than Israeli propaganda. Especially when your sole argument as to why I should is an appeal to emotion over this person’s gender identity.

The rape that Amit Soussana described in an interview.

Do you think she is lying?

How do I know she even exists? After so many times crying wolf, I can’t believe anything about Israel that isn’t witnessed directly by someone who hasn’t lied as part of an anti-Arab propaganda piece. Show me proof this person exists, then we can go from there and work out if they have any credibility.

Screams Without Silence? THAT’S LITERALLY THE STORY THE NYT FABRICATED. That shit was written by a former Israeli intelligence officer that said Gaza should be “turned into a slaughterhouse”. She said Israel should be violating all norms, and should execute all Palestinian prisoners. It’s literally a propaganda piece written by the Israeli government. It’s also the story linked in the article at the top of this thread. It’s the story The Intercept debunked. IT’S THE GODS DAMNED STORY THE NYT THEMSELVES QUESTIONED THE AUTHENTICITY OF IN LEAKED INTERNAL COMMUNICATIONS. They knew before they released it that it was questionable at best, but they released it because they were fucking paid to. And here you are, gobbling it up, like a fucking idiot, believing everything you read online for no other reason than she identifies as a woman as we can’t expect a woman to lie, can we?

All you’ve done is totally solidify in my mind that this person is at best lying, and at worst not even real. I’m leaning toward the not being real.

Oh sure, hide behind religion, that’ll get you somewhere with me. Do I hate Jews? Well, I’m an anti-theist, I believe religion is the most evil thing mankind has ever created, and I hate all religions, especially Christianity. I believe all Jews are gullible idiots for believing in fairy tales, same as any religious person. And like all brainwashed religious people, they become dangerous, genocidal monsters periodically.

But I’m not refusing to believe this person simply because they’re a Jew, I’m refusing to believe them because they’re Israeli and part of a propaganda movement by a right-wing government. I don’t need to look for an excuse to not believe them. I simply do not, and you can rage about it however you want. Call me antisemitic, call me a bad person, say I hate women or I support rape. At the end of the day, you’re only going to stress yourself out, because I’ve already decided you’re an idiot.

Yes, you’re anti-feminist, and you would rather enable rapists than question those who share your political aims.

I’m not stressed, though, because I guessed it from the start. I’ve seen plenty of other men exactly like you, starting with Trump supporters.

She claims she was forced at gunpoint to perform a sexual act on her captor. Which is sexual assault.

Sexual assault is commonly known as rape.

In the interview, she said she was groped before she was raped.
