    Just get an android phone without google play services or microG, get a minimalist launcher, then only install the apps you need straight from the web

        What do you mean? Most people already have a suitable android phone either in their pocket or in a closet, and a cheap one is significantly less expensive than the dumb phones that are sold to people who want to stop doomscrolling

      I was thinking about this after posting my comment.

      I have some phones laying around that I can try to install a different OS on.
