Your guess is wrong and you’re reading way more in to my post than was there. I don’t mind competent stereo mixing, but I’d be fine if everything was mixed to mono because I probably wouldn’t even notice the difference. That’s it.

I bought myself The Beatles In Mono boxed set because those stereo mixes of their early work were so awful. Yeah, that’s a good example of this meme.
