Oh look a tankie trying to push bullshit tankie rhetoric.
Last time I checked I didn’t get thrown into prison for life, shot or run over by tanks because I disagreed with my boss.
I swear that tankie logic is that of a person who gets busted doing meth in the bathroom at work and then complains when they get fired, claiming their boss is an “oppressive fascist”.
Your geographic location doesn’t dictate your beliefs, opinions, etc. At all. I have a friend that grew up in America, he’s Muslim, he’s got family in Jordan IIRC. But I was like, you’re pro-America. Right? No, turns out he much prefers Jordan & wants to move someday.
Maybe you espouse tankie beliefs. Or maybe not, idk your life.
Tankie is a pejorative label generally applied to communists who express support for one-party communist regimes that are associated with Marxism–Leninism, whether contemporary or historical. It is commonly used by anti-authoritarian leftists, including anarchists, libertarian socialists, left communists, democratic socialists, and reformists to criticise Leninism, although the term has seen increasing use by liberals and right‐wing factions as well
So, not me. but still random lemmy users will screech tankie at me.
People end up on the street because they reported something at their company, or turned down the advances of their boss.
All medical care is tied to employers most of the time, so if you don’t obey that means losing access to medicine. Sometimes medicine necessary to live or function normally.
The world is bigger than the USA. Most western capitalist democracies do not have medical care or insurance tied to employment.
And your example of people “ending up on the streets” is such a fucking edge case. So don’t try and paint it like this is an every day occurrence you disingenuous extremist.
It an edge case because people do whatever it takes to avoid it.
Someone who tolerates harassment, or unsafe working conditions to keep their job doesn’t get added to the “on the streets stats” but that threat is always present in their lives if they demand their rights.
Yeah more sensationalist unsubstantiated tankie bullshit. Good little tankie drone.
You lot live in a fucking fantasy world. You would run a mile if you ever had to live in one of your “socialist paradise” tankie regimes.
Here is an idea. You could move to one of them if the west is so bad. Oh no that’s right, you lot just like to cry “west of bad” while idolising countries with a laundry list of genocides, atrocities and human rights abuses from the comfort of your western democratic basements.
Your position is as transparent as glass. It boils down to being apologetic to authoritarianism regimes, and dismissing their despicable actions, while over exaggerating the problems of western democracies in order to paint them as the “bad guys”.

Workplace democracy is tankie bullshit now? Ok then.
Right? I’m trying to figure out how I could be a tankie but also in the US…

Oh please, the intention of this post is so fucking transparent in its tankie rhetoric of trying to paint the west as an evil blight.
Tankies would support the USSR (a dictatorship). This logic is Socialist. More like, pro-union, but then a bit more radical than that.
And spot on that you’d be in prison for disagreeing with your boss in the good old USSR.
Perhaps you are right there.

I never said anything in support of the PRC/USSR, I said workers should have unions they could vote in.
Calling people names and assuming their ideology isn’ta good way to have a discussion.
Don’t try to backtrack and play the victim card.
Your position is as transparent as glass. It boils down to being apologetic to authoritarianism regimes, and dismissing their despicable actions, while over exaggerating the problems of western democracies in order to paint them as the “bad guys”.
It’s nothing new and not as subtle as you think.
It’s not backtracking because I never defended those governments, I only ever advocated labor unions.
That’s a complete lie, which is why you can’t quote me saying that.
Between the name-calling, assumptions, complete lies about what I’ve said, you must be a troll. I’m done, bye.
Hey, just want to commend you for being so nice to that disingenuous commenter above. Thanks for making Lemmy a nice place to be :)
It’s really not. See Portland, Oregon. It’s pretty much over run with homeless people at this point.
I see a lot of that kind of sentiment here.
