Oxford study proves heat pumps triumph over fossil fuels in the cold::Published Monday in the scientific journal Joule, the research found that heat pumps are two to three times more efficient than their oil and gas counterparts, specifically in temperatures ranging from 10 C to -20 C.

Here it is warm in the day, maybe -6°C to 4°C but at night around -31°C on avg in the Winter, Dec to Feb a lot of the heat pumps sold here cap out at -28°C or less, so most people just use Gas or Wood, also we can see down to around -50°C Very Rare and natural gas is way cheaper then electricity by far here.
New Houses, Etc are going to start using Geothermal as my Gov is giving a Tax Cut on it next year, but the Ground is very rocky here so it cost like 30 to 40k to Install Systems and housing Developers are building on tiny pieces of land, so no yard for a $300,000 to $500,000+ home.
