Haven’t finished it yet, but Sgt. Pepper’s Lonely Hearts Club Band. The movie feels like a fever dream where the Bee Gees play as a small band getting a record deal in Hollywood. Very odd, but the creativity in each scene makes it hard to stop watching.
I watched Pusher. It’s been on my list for a long time to watch. Now I need to make time for pusher 2 and 3.
Just finished green book. I really enjoyed it. Good character development and based on a true story I was not previously familiar with.
I just finished The Unbearable Weight of Massive Talent. I went into it without knowing anything, and was surprised by how much I liked it!
I love a good bromance
Sonic 3, these movies are actually good lol
Ernest scared stupid.
Kinda nice to recluse into childhood nostalgia right now. Also, I’m SO into twin peaks right now too. Almost finished with the first season.
Finally got around to watching Oppenheimer.
How did you feel about the opening 45 minutes or whatever it was? The constant time skips, loud music in every scene, etc?
I couldn’t get that far. I made it some 25 minutes before I turned it off. A barrage of pointless scenes was so boring to me.
I made it a bit further but also gave up. I guess I wasn’t particularly interested in a Nolan biographical feature to begin with (I feel he is better suited to fiction), but it definitely felt like one of his most self-fellating efforts yet. Sort of just confrationally different for the sake of being different. I bet his fanboys ate it up, though.
The little flashes and loud music were kind of reminiscent of when you’re really deep into a topic or idea that just consumes all your senses. As for the time skips, since I wasn’t familiar with the history I was right the way confused until maybe the second hour.
Admittedly I could only get through the whole thing in three sittings, so some of the momentum of the film might have been lost on me :(
I thought it was fine. Could have been called “Manhattan Project” instead. And as an anti-war American I thought they made a compelling case at the end that the US was “forced” to obliterate all those Japanese civilians, but from a human perspective I still think it was abominable.
It’s really funny that people did the “Barbenheimer.” The hot pink, light-hearted feminist eye candy into a 3-hour sepiatone drama starring 45 white men. I would have whiplash.
Talk about a palate cleanser!
The Watchers
It is difficult to describe how exactly it met my expectations. Truly one of the most -whelming viewing experiences.
Batman Begins, Pretty good!
John Wick. I don’t watch movies very often and hadn’t seen it, but I’m working on filling up my media server and that was a recent addition.
What did you think of it? I’ve been planning to watch it for ages based purely on the hype, but it’s not the type of genre I’d usually go for so I’m not sure whether I’ll enjoy it.
You watch it for the action. The plot in the first one is decent, but the sequels are just more action scenes.
It’s high action, non-stop retribution and extremely violent. It’s over the top but great if you’re looking for that low IQ film just for the vibe.
Plus, they kill his dog. Everyone is happy with violence against people killing puppies.
Avalon 2001 - hilarious film for over 2/3 of a runtime
On the basis of sex . Really interesting movie. We have come a long way but still have more to go.
Had an edible on a snowy Sunday and rewatched Nausicaa of the Valley of the Wind with my family. It was a damned cozy afternoon.
A Real Pain - I didn’t enjoy it. Neither of the main characters was particularly likable. I got exhausted just watching Benji and I can’t imagine having to deal with him in person.
Watched Rare Exports even though it’s not Christmas anymore. It was awesome. Seen part 1 and 2 of the original shorts too.
