A: The US debt is about to get out of control and the government is too dysfunctional to fix it. Whatever moronic destruction Musk is doing is not what will help. Trump is making it even worse too

B: It doesn’t matter how noncredible a plan it is. Trump has pulled every lever he can to do what he wants unhindered by anyone with a functioning brain and now he wants to annex the country by trying to destroy its economy, even if it doesn’t succeed at annexing the country, he will still damage Canada’s economy.

C: Canada controls the Northwest passage and is the key to controlling the Arctic. By itself it is forecast to become a viable and profitable shipping route thanks to global warming. It is about to become a huge economic lever against China’s exports. There is a reason why Trump wants to control the Panama canal again as well.

D: Resources: There is a vast wealth of minerals and potentially undiscovered oil about to become cheaply accessible once the North opens to shipping. There is also a huge reserve of fresh water that the US covets.

There is a reason why Russia is pushing to take control of the North. Even China made claims that they are a “near arctic state” which is laughable, but clearly indicates that they want to throw their hat into the ring to gain access to the wealth that buried below ground there.

Why do you think Panama and Canada came up on the same day. Yea, Northwest Passage.

Thank you for clearly outlining the depth of your analysis.

I looked it up and you are clearly delusional that this “Northwest Passage” is some kind of major shipping lane or has any real value at all.

It wasn’t even clear of ice until 2009 and is reported to be as shallow as 15’ in many parts.

Keep building this fantasy of yours. It is entertaining.

I think the Northwest Passage being referred is the Elizabeth Islands which is a geographical choke point not unlike the Strait of Malacca. If the Arctic sea ice fully melts then it’ll be a very important location to control traffic going to and from the Eastern Seaboard. The only way around coming from Russia is to go East of Greenland. Trump wants Canada and Greenland to act as a shield against Russia and to a lesser extent, China.

If that’s his goal (big if) that’s the stupidest way possible. Could’ve literally asked they probably would’ve. Also if that’s his goal why is he simultaneously removing the Russian embargo. This is all also ignoring that krasnov is a Russian asset

The US already has a deal with Denmark basically allowing them unlimited presence on Greenland. A takeover changes nothing except now there’s no “buffer state” between the US and Russia.
