Been using Obsidian MD and it’s great so far, but the biggest problem I have with it is a lack of spellchecker. Not to say it doesn’t have one; allegedly it has a built-spell checker, but it doesn’t work. It only tells me the dictionary is empty, and I’m not sure how to fix that. Some people online have said that’s for user entered words, but despite having multiple English languages selected for the spellchecker, it doesn’t actually show/underline misspelled words, or seem to do anything in general, and I don’t see a way to activate it or anything.

Any suggestions on how to get it working? If it’s a native Obsidian or Linux compatibility issue, any good workarounds/plugins? Preferably ones that don’t use generative AI or make API calls in general, would like offline use.
