    Romania is the most enthusiastic supporter of the EU and is on an economic growth spurt right now. But sure, keep treating them like second-class Europeans until they start waxing nostalgic about the days they had a friend in Russia. See how that works out.

    Bulgaria is already well on that path.

      No expansion until veto’s are gone.

      Being hostage to reactionary minority opinions isn’t great.

      Your observations are pretty spot on, however the “friend in Russia” will most likely happen when hell freezes over. Russia is pretty hated and almost always was in Romania. What will however happen is the EU support will most likely drop to very low levels.

    Austria is not applying Schengen in some of its borders currently, therefore should not have the right of veto. Instead it should be questioned if Austria should be allowed to continue in Schengen considering that it’s the number 1 country closing Schengen borders on a regular basis.
