Short of keeping all your money in cash and living off the grid in a hovel not worth the trouble for the bank to foreclose on, I think I’m pretty much fucked.

Matrix supports “bridges” for a number of third party services so you can keep in contact with friends who haven’t made the transition to federated services.

I don’t actually do much with Matrix at the moment, it’s mostly the result of me tinkering with self-hosted services. I did recently bridge it to Discord, and I’ve let my friends know it’s a potential alternative if Discord continues going down the shitter.

This was just their second attempt, I wouldn’t count them out yet.

March 04English3·7 months agoRecently finished a re-read of Lord of the Rings, and am working my way through The Silmarillion again now. Found them in gorgeous hardback editions that also have Tolkien’s illustrations. Ideally once I’m finished with Silmarillion I’ll start in on Tolkien’s other works that I’ve never read at all - Unfinished Tales, Morgoth’s Ring, etc.

If you’re actually curious, the funky letters are the upper- and lowercase of the Old/Middle English letter Eth that represents the “th” sound.
Why anyone would use it today? Maybe they think it’s “quirky”?
