Well trying to get a sense of Hexbear from a post at the top of my feed has me convinced Lemmy isn’t for me. Just seeing how radicalized they are has me afraid of the communities that can be bred here. Sunaurus you’re great and if all instances could be run by people as open minded and well intentioned as you Lemmy would be an amazing place. Good luck!

Because, like I said, I’ve noticed totally irrational arguments in the last few days. No I don’t think ignoring facts and contradicting yourself is just a matter of differing opinion. It’s the extreme opinions mixed with inconsistent logic that screams astroturfing to me.

You also have to consider how much of that profit is from operating in Norway.

I appreciate your perspective on this. I think something weird is going on there in the past couple of days. I was pretty unaware of them until literally yesterday I found myself in the comment section with some of the most bafflingly insane opinions I’ve seen (imo anyway). I strongly suspect they’re being astroturfed hard by Russia right now. There’s no way to mark their community suspicious or something in our feeds? Lemmy needs more instance to instance controls than than just severing ties.

Imo I would give it a few days and then defederate if they continue to be problematic. It would be great if someone occasionally reviewed defederated instance because that’s going to fragment the fediverse so badly

Edit: also staying federated gives us the opportunity/responsibility to downvote and confront propaganda when we see it which I don’t see happening much

I believe it intuitively but you’re not providing evidence which is really important and you’re not even connecting it to blue collar crime. Let’s try to find a study or some actual stats before echo chambering too hard

No you don’t. Chrome might implement wei but chromium is open source. There’s literally no way they could force every chromium browser to use it and the threat of drm web isn’t affected by using a non wei chromium browser or Firefox.
