The problem isn’t that they’re going to use it for themselves. The problem is they’re going to either try to make money with it or do some black hat shit that this will help facilitate.

That’s because the tech industry has a deep vested interest in this type of bullshit succeeding. So it’s always presented as the most awesome thing ever. Did you see the not-a-sex-robot presented at CES this year as if it was basically human rather than a freaky uncanny valley Realdoll? Even the guy who they had do the video was clearly having trouble keeping a straight face while he praised it.

I am not, but thank you. I am looking for work in audio and video production and post-production- but full time, not freelance work. I do check that site on occasion, but they rarely have anything for me, or at least anything I haven’t applied for yet elsewhere.

I actually have gotten interviewed after applying for a couple of different LN jobs, which makes it worse. It isn’t useless.

And yeah, I have started to just skip over those “fill everything out again” forms because after a while it’s like, “how desperate am I?” I’m getting interviews without those anyway. I’m 47 years old and I’ve been a professional in my field for over 20 years. If you need me to fill out a form for the sort of job I’m applying for as if it was for a cashier at Burger King, maybe this is not the right job for me.

Yeah, it’s awful. I was basically only doing it originally not to burn any bridges, but I actually got a couple of interviews scheduled by applying through it so it’s not 100% useless, especially for the ads you have to click through to go to an actual company’s careers page to apply for.

I really don’t know Kieran Culkin well enough to know how he would be, but those other two make me want to see it almost as badly as I want to see the production of Waiting for Godot put on by Robin Williams and Steve Martin, which I doubt was ever filmed since it would have come out long ago.
