i have the same toothbrush. that stupid annoying charging base + how fast it dies is a terrible downside for the product for me, and I can’t imagine splitting the battery with another person and keeping it on those god awful chargers even more often

i tried that one time. it was the only time i tried to use AI for something actually useful that i needed. i wanted to write some simple JavaScript that would rapidly flash 3 equally sized images on the screen of a handheld linux machine. the AI provided a list of instructions of software and other prerequisites i would need. after installing everything and entering in the code provided into the software, it immediately started yelling warning signs at me about the code. nothing ran. it was all useless. it felt like talking to a paranoid schizophrenic. the ai was so sure of the code, and insisted that i must be making a mistake, and kept apologizing and providing more useless code. it was literally just like talking to a paranoid schizophrenic at a bus stop, insisting all the crazy shit they’re saying REALLY makes sense, if only you’ll let them explain it to you further.

you perfectly nailed the reason i don’t even use rtx. the side by sides just arent good enough, in the actual games. I can’t justify the additional performance hit when i literally cannot tell the difference in reflections when swapping between the two on a real gameplay setting. sure it looks different, but better? more often than not, no. obviously this all varies in degree game to game depending how it was designed. Hogwarts Legacy rtx DID look better, but it wasnt enough to justify it. the baked scenes were great looking too.

I think language having the ability to say things in various ways is very practical. if you try to read a book written by someone who only says things in one way all the time, it’s probably going to be a dull book.

you’ve never heard flock of geese? herd of cows? school of fish? these are incredibly common.

you’re already giving way too much credit to these models. you dont even need emotion for sentience. an iguana is 100% more sentient than any LLM. life is defined as organic matter that reproduces. very far from an llm. “AI” is a misnomer that they don’t bother correcting because it makes it sound magical and lifelike. these models are not aware of the words they are generating. they do not know what word they just typed before the current one. they do not have any concept of thought or ideas as you or me do. they, simply, are not sentient. this would be required for any true “artificial intelligence” because our self awareness is a huge part of human intellect. LLM are tools, not minds.
