Linux@lemmy.ml•I have Arch Linux with HyDE dotfiles, after I do an upgrade, my linux broke.
4·9 months agoDid a quick view into their installer. They use some AUR parts. Upgrading only with pacman seems not useful. Better use yay -Syu (or paru -Syu) it will upgrade both AUR and pacman. Since others recommended, get a tty and run HyDE installscript again.
Did a test upgrade on one. Really easy and without trouble. Tomorrow Ansible script to upgrade all.
Woof, hard flashback to my first steps on Linux. Idk, these problems leave, when you try to buy better supported Linux hardware. Thinkpads and XPS (second hand / refurbed) are near 100% supported (maybe some have a quirky nvidia gpu which needs some extra steps) and really cheap these days. I would sell stupid Samsung / Chromebook stuff and buy Dell/Lenovo for less headache.

Interesting idea. But I would rethink the logo. *insert “it’s a penis” -meme
Dad of 4 kids here, I would say use the system that let you concentrate more on the kid and less on tinkering the OS.
Fedora could be a nice successor since it runs extremely stable, best way to be clean and safe are doing the updates, but I say this with 15 years of Linux experience.
Better stay on win 10. Family first.
Serious question about his supporters: Are they cool with this? Like, hey a $200 mio. ballroom at the white house is exactly what I voted for.

Linux@lemmy.ml•Arch Linux Users at Risk Again as AUR Hit by Another RAT
7·10 months agoIs AUR more risky than before? Nope. But this targets more people than ever. StreamOS and CachyOS are pretty popular these days.
I thought about i2p, too. But what do we use it for? Torrents!

8·10 months agoLol I ended up with Debian > Rocky > Arch.
Idk how to feel. I was a longtime Debian user but actually prefer Fedora + Arch.
I use Arch with hyprland, waybar, walker, pcman-qt, Kitty.
Reason is I hate mouse or touchpads I try to use them less. Hyprland is a tiling wm but I am not a fan of tiling at all. Most of the time I switch through workspaces with command+tab and only one window on each workspace.

Proton yes, but signal, never ever. Proton and Plex.
Tbh, on my list for the future headline: “Hard to believe: this privacy app has been secretly selling data” Brave is in my personal top 3
