Let me be a chainmail scrubber evangelist. These things are fantastic, like steel wool that doesn’t fall apart. Safe for most things (though I wouldn’t use it on non-stick cause you’ll ruin the teflon). Easy as hell to wash, cause it’s stainless steel.

Get you a stainless steel chainmail scrubber. Don’t use it on non-stick cause you’ll ruin the teflon coating, but on everything else it’s wonderful, like steel wool that doesn’t fall apart.

Something like this, although personally I prefer a more fine chain.

Intermittent fasting.

Like any form of weight-loss the real mechanism is a calorie deficit, but intermittent fasting makes that really easy for some people. I lost like 30lbs in six months. Takes a bit to kick in but then goes pretty quickly.

Unfortunately, losing weight is a long journey. People who are very overweight have more fat cells than others (because those cells divide when they get big enough) and those fat cells WANT to hold onto fat. And they’ll release hormones to achieve that goal. So your body will desperately be calling for you to overeat.

This is part of why weight-loss tends to be a spiky line for people. I gained back all of the IF weight I lost, and then some. Still below my highest recorded weight by a good 20lbs, but I’m just now getting back on the IF horse, hoping to make better progress this time.

F for temperatures affecting humans, C for science.

I used to say this. But being a curious person, and one willing to test my own hypothesis, I decided to learn Celsius. Like, spend enough time with it to intuitively understand it, so that I could compare the two.

Almost six years later, I haven’t switched back. I much prefer Celsius for weather. Having 0° at freezing is far more useful than I suspected it would be, and having less granular degrees gives them more meaning, which makes understanding them easier.

Seriously, I struggle to express just how useful below-freezing temperatures being negative is. -5°C means so much more to me than 23°F, and that’s after thirty years of using Fahrenheit and only six of using Celsius.

The range humans can survive in is roughly 0 to 100 in F, the full range of the scale. The range in Centigrade is roughly -17 to 30

Minor correction:

30°C is a relatively normal temperature for much of the world (not necessarily all the time, but during the hotter parts of the year at least). That’s 86°F. Where I am in Michigan today the high is 32°C.

0°F to 100°F is roughly -18°C to 38°C.

(I’ve heard this as “ten is cold,” but to me ten isn’t cold, it’s just starting to get chilly. 10°C=50°F, and I wouldn’t call 50°F cold (depending on the season, I guess.)

Off topic, having spent my whole life using Fahrenheit until about six years ago when I decided to test the “Fahrenheit is better for describing weather as it effects humans” reasoning I always used by switching to Celsius on all my devices…I personally much prefer Celsius. It is remarkable how much more meaning I get from -5°C than I ever did from 23°F. Because a degree Celsius is less granular than a degree Fahrenheit, learning the meaning of a degree is much easier. And because the below-freezing temperatures are negative reflections of the above-freezing values, it’s much easier to understand cold temperatures in Celsius (in my opinion).

But really breasts and the nipples on them aren’t inherently sexual and it’s tiring men think/act as if they are.

Inherently, no, but they are secondary sexual characteristics that our species has selected for long enough that the lizard brain instincts find them sexually appealing.

The problem isn’t that men think they’re sexual or find them a turn on. The problem is men not knowing how to control themselves.

Although I was lightly bullied for my perky pokies as a young man, making me self-conscious about them at a level I have a hard time suppressing or ignoring.

We use “bum fuck nowhere” in Michigan, at least in my experience.

As this is a route flown to transport VIPs, eventually you HAVE to train pilots on it, at night, during congestion. These would have been highly experienced pilots who would’ve flown the route previously. They knew what they were doing.

People make mistakes.

That’s why aviation relies on the Swiss cheese model. Unfortunately there was only one needed point of failure here, it seems.

Aviation safety is built around the “Swiss cheese” model. Things can (and, by virtue of human nature, will) go wrong, but for an accident to occur, multiple things have to go wrong. The holes in the Swiss cheese have to line up for something to pass all the way through a block of it.

Here, there was ONE thing, maybe two, that went wrong. The helicopter pilots identified the wrong plane when told to confirm visual and fly behind it. One could argue an overtaxed ATC wasn’t able to properly monitor them, for a potential second thing that went wrong.

One, maybe two things going wrong shouldn’t cause fatalities. If this is how DC airspace regularly operates then something needs to change.
