They are doing surprisingly extensive censorship in their Matrix chat. I do not know what the first deleted messages had said, but you can see there that they deleted a message saying “I wanted to reply but now forgot about the exact text you wrote. It’s fine… no hard feelings. Organic Maps had a great moment when we were all together and I was happy to be part of that. I still had hopes that reconciliation was possible but the concerns were never addressed and sadly things didn’t change :( Maybe in the future this may change”

Seems like a rather extensive use of the “delete comment” button. Feeling a need for that level of censorship is a bit scary to me.

I posted those screenshots because I opened their Matrix channel, saw this conversation going on, and was surprised. I had previously ever been active on that chat for 10 minutes only, some week ago or so, and when opening it again I saw this kind of crap going on. And felt like it’s something that should be shared for others to see.

Organic Maps still hasn’t updated the map of Helsinki to include the two very important new bicycle patgs opened 1½ months ago, although a new OM version came out a few weeks after the routes had opened and immediately updated on Openstreetmap. I ended up finding about Comaps because of that, and on Comaps the new routes are shown correctly.

That’s awesome to hear, because they seem to be extremely common in Germany – at least in Berlin, in 2010. Probably now as well. It seemed that wherever I was connecting to WiFi at friends’ places, there were always three to ten available WiFi networks with names such as FritzBox-FG42KF1EE or similar.

What? Are those actually made inside the EU, not just by a German company but overseas?

How come is it not available on F-Droid?

I had never heard of CoMaps before. Is it another fork of the Kremlin-controlled Maps.ME without Russian spy code? Or something else?

Is there a specific reason it needs an alternative, or is it just good to have an alternative for everything in case that something about a program is not okay for some user?

After Jimmycakes’ comment I checked leaverussia.kse.org for Coca-cola and Pepsi as “barcodes”, and it turns out that Coca-Cola still produces beverages with some local brand names that probably don’t get recognized as inostranets by Russians.

And Pepsi has been expanding to fill the gap left by Coca-Cola company.

This could be largely because Pepsi has been expanding in the Russia and many are boycotting it for that. So, if the combined market share of those has risen, then we are not doing so badly :)

On working days before 16 o’clock bank transfers inside EU are instantaneous. After that, next working day. If the shop has the same bank as the customer, it’s always instantaneous.

I’d like to know who got the idea to name the system with a word meaning “tax” in Finnish, one of the official languages of EU… Both are related to money, so there is a possibility for confusion.

Online you pay by bank transfer. Instead of “credit card”, I choose “online bank”, click my bank’s name, enter my online banking login and password, give one of the single-use codes and press “transfer”. A bank transfer from my account to the bank account number defined by the shop is made, no money goes to USA.
