  • Didn’t answer the question: why? If Israel unilaterally exited Gaza in 2005, and uprooted all Israeli settlements and relocated them in Israel, why would you jump to the conclusion that Israel wants the land? The simple explanation, supported by facts, is that Hamas has been terrorizing the communities around Gaza inside Israel with missiles and rockets for 18 years, and has escalated to the incursion into Israel and slaughter of men, women, children, babies, and in at least one instance a fetus, kidnapped civilians, and are holding them hostage in a vast network of an underground city that was built to house the terrorists rather than build up an infrastructure for the Palestinian people to live and prosper. Now Israel is waging a war on Hamas. Beachfront property?! That’s the explanation. It’s ignoring facts and you, my friend, are a victim of propaganda.

  • That’s so fucking stupid. Israel is mostly beachfront. This is 14 miles of beach. If you honestly believe this, I really shouldn’t waste time replying.

But … look. Israel unilaterally left Gaza - uprooted Israeli settlements - took out all the army. Left. No army. No Israelis. No agreement either. Palestinian Authority was ruling Gaza at the time, so there was hope they’d self govern and build a better life for themselves - free of Israelis and IDF. You know what they did? They had the one and only election in the last 18 years and put Hamas in power. Hamas started shooting rockets at the Israeli towns surrounding Gaza in Israel. This has been escalating until the massacre 2 weeks ago.

Israel doesn’t want or need the land. Israel wants and needs peace. Go spend some time educating yourself.

  • IDF spokesperson in Arabic - “The population of the city of Gaza, we address you this morning to leave the city of Gaza to the southern Gaza Strip for your security. I want to inform you that the IDF will refrain from touching the designated route on the map until 20:00. For your security, take advantage of the next time to move south from Beit Hanoun to Khan Yunis. We will publish additional safe methods later on. If you are concerned about yourselves and your loved ones, it is advisable to move south according to our instructions. Be close and assured that Hamas leaders are only concerned with protecting themselves in preparation for the upcoming attacks.”

  • From the article you posted:

After the strike, IDF officials said the Rafah border crossing between the Gaza Strip and Egypt was not the specific target in the counter-attack against Hamas and that the bombs were intended to strike an underground smuggling tunnel nearby, per CNN.

The IDF also issued a clarification later Tuesday, after the strike near the Rafah crossing, saying there is “no official call by Israel for residents of the Gaza Strip to exit into Egypt,” the Times of Israel reported.
