  • It’s inconsiderate to take up space in a queue by not moving forward. People behind you would stop sooner, and if taking up extra space is exacerbated across more people, people who arrive at the end of the line continuously must stop sooner. Unless people are moving forward, this unnecessarily slows and lengthens the queue.

Granted, for cars, a car space or so between bumpers shouldn’t be that bad. It accounts for the chance an idiot at the back doesn’t brake in time and tries to start car-dominoes. I was taught to match the top of my hood with the bottom of the car’s wheels in front.

  • Ohhh man, I’m out of the loop, and I thought I was being helpful earlier, but I wasn’t. What’s the matrix space? It’s not the federation?

Am I getting this right that it’s like self-hosted email, but for chat? Or do we have to pick an instance to host the chat log? How do people normally go about picking? How does matrix space tie into the canvas community on toast ooo?

Surely there’s a Eli5 page or community for this matrix-space? Does matrix space go by any other name?

Thank you for your time! I already love where this is going, but don’t wanna wet my socks just yet and sign up for many things willy nilly in case I lose track :0

  • ~~I’ve been switching between Jerboa and Liftoff, and now you’ve had this issue, I’ve downloaded Voyager. When I click on !canvas@toast.ooo in either of the three, the community opens within the app I’m using. Bug maybe? In Voyager, try searching

    canvas@toast.ooo

I managed to get to it that way. Hope it helps for now .~~

Edit: NVM, I misunderstood instructions! I think they didn’t mean to just sub to the community, but we actually need to use a chat-style app (the matrix space?). Not lemmy?

  • Dense US citizen here. Eli5 how I should explain “just trust us not to abuse collection of all your data or else get locked out of the world wide web” applies to antitrust laws for the FTC?

I’m genuinely wanting to submit an email complaint/report. I understand that WEI protects nothing, but risks your data with all the sites you visit, all in an effort just to block possibly unprofitable users – but I’m not sure how to tie in and word the Breaks Antitrust Laws part.

Thank for your time to post these links.
