How many Teslas have been purchased and how many Teslas ended up in this situation? While it’s a sucky design decision, it’s sucky in an extreme edge case. S/Could it be fixed? Sure why not. Has something equally as ridiculous killed people in Ford f150s, Honda odessys, or Toyota Camrys like stupid gas tank configuration or glass that doesn’t break or seatbelts you can’t cut? I would put money on it. But nobody reports on that because the cool thing to do is smugly say Tesla sucks.

And they do! I have two and they are shitty made cars, but they have an enviable charging network and are constantly improving software and features. Mostly they are making Ford/Chevy/Honda get off their asses and do something and that’s ok with me.

Tesla rear doors don’t open on button press from the inside with no power, but I bet they do from the outside. Just like the child locks. I’ve never tried it unpowered to confirm though.

Trump is not doing anything but saying “I’ll do this! And I’ll do that! And I’m the best at this!” And as long as he says enough bullshit all the voters say “of course he lies and says what he needs to say to get elected, but not about my thing!” Even if every week he contradicts the last thing he says.

Short memories, unsophisticated voters, and single issue voting mean this strategy will basically always work. Remember, they have voters with single issue in, and you (or at least many in this thread or on Lemmy) are single issue out. The distinction between the candidates was clear enough:

1. I will lower your taxes (for billionaires), I don’t like immigrants, and I will say all the stuff you think and the lefties made it bad to say. Also if I don’t win I’m going to jail because, for enough money I will do whatever you want (for Russia, Elon, or anyone else).

2. I am an actual qualified candidate.

There was no choice. It was taxes and fear and tribalism with a special sprinkle of election interference attempts around the horn.

She was appointed? So what? Elect her because she’s a better choice, then fix that problem.
