This is a simple yet effectively-down-to-earth meme right here. Not all conflicts and problems have to be responded with abject rage and negativity; humility, a willingness to listen with caution, and most of all, an eagerness to explain and discern beyond the bubble like your favorite high school/collegiate instructor would, are all that it takes for positive and fruitful conversations and engagements, especially in online rafts like the ones we currently have built down here.
Down the chats of the official Fanlore discord server lately (of which I have been in for the past few months), they’ve been discussing this kind of transgression alongside the HP fanfic debacle (specifically, the Manacled one, of which upon its reworked professional release by its fanfic author gained enough controversy within and outside the fandom that it warranted for a wiki article on its own).
Also, one editor has suggested using “illegal fic binding” in place of the term "illegal “fanbinding” as the latter connotes the non-profit work with a for-profit tone in a negative way. Another has noted that het (in other words, F/M) fanfics sell much more than other pairing-centered ones, and attract more outsiders willing to buy that much for an illegal fic-binded copy, in disrespect to those original authors; throw the franchise copyright shenanigans in, and there we have the entire panfandom world at a crossroads battlefield against those recklessly profiteering for the sake of it.
Also, as a side note, there’s also this recently-created wiki article section about said fannish controversy:

@HeartyBeast Jokes on you, I already figured out what story’s on its surface (except for spoiler-territory stuff), as well as having indirectly encountered this banger of a rhythm game myself, through two rip vids on both SiIvaGunner and TimmyTurnersGrandDad several weeks ago, of all things.
It would be mostly this song by Filipino band Over October, even though this could also apply to those missing their own parents or siblings for so long:
Into the Light
Headcase by Derivakat
And, about time for some listening to this one banger Free Money! rip on Youtube as a sort of ironic celebration.
That would be OMORI, first and foremost.
That alone made me call to mind this rather poignant and moving Dream SMP fansong called “Vantage” by Halfy & Winks (and also a few hundred more teenage and adult musicians and choir tryouts), of which its lyrics could also apply to what’s happening to us, not just in Gaza, but also in Ukraine, and in South Sudan, etc…
And Sweater Month too? How delightfully festive of a side hobby, regardless of climate location.
I also have tried this rather minimalist jotting site called thoughts.page a while back. Moreso a personal repository of rambling, quick thoughts than one alike Tumblr or Cohost, yet it’s generally seamless, most of the time.
And by that, he’ll call it his own “Las Nevadas”, but way, way more insidious and manipulative.
@Sweetpeaches69 Thus, the recursive idea of “ideas” themselves, be it good, bad, or somewhere in-between.
It always has been, Tomsci, you veteran Flairwarsian. Borne from decades of prejudice and a hitch for subjugating his fellow people in sometimes-overt ways. Just not fully known before these defining moments of these past few months.
Him, and the rest of this power-greedy horde emanating in this world, too.
Although they have been trying again and again to subvert that one adage regarding who gets to rightfully write human history: the sole victors at large, the underdogs with their numbers, or the tricksters that pull the marionette strings behind the show.
And yes, the fictional Dream and DreamXD characters fit in, too.
And that, for one, makes a section of my moral mind and heart go “And now this again? How have people have largely forgotten our ancestor’s egregious transgressions just to go root for those people who vow to pleasurely subjugate their fellows according to their flawed, sadist worldview, be it overt or covert?”
And looking at our planet as it stands right now, culturally, politically, and morally, it seems that we are bound to repeat this vicious cycle of homicide, destruction, tyranny, cultural heritages being lost and razed out of existence, as per Derivakat & Netrum’s recent collab tune, unless we band together, whatever the cost, and at the slimmest least, uphold the positive ideals of humanity we so seek, regardless of nationality, gender, economic standing, and so on.
Hey there, also calling back from kbin.social as some of the commenters in this mini-raft.
Although most of the politics posts can be a bit of an eyesore to most of us here, I found comfort in this instance, even going so far as to establish some new mags for my ephemeral interests, one for the musico-archivist Derivakat herself, of which I have grown tired of continually building as my college era began to set in, up until this point.
As for private small-group convos, I’m also mulling moving on to revolt.chat along with a few others in my own Discord server if ever its fires start blazing forth.
And now, it’s not just news-producing sites; a while ago, I tried to look for the dimensions for the toilet and bath sections for a typical Filipino home, and lo and behold, two identical GAI cobblin’ sites appeared on top of the search results!
Although I’m not in any way aware or alive when that was happening back then - that “.com bubble” blast I think? - I surmise that was a real crash-and-burn phenomenon, McKinstry’s “CR6” internet show being one of its casualties, despite its significance in online emergent media history.
Just like the eventual rapid fall of L’manberg, albeit not as fast as a series of TNT and wither bombardments…
I would also like to add that she’s also in the game Sayonara Wild Hearts as the Narrator herself, as a sort of last-minute addition by the developers at Simogo.
