Honestly, the lack of activity here has quelled my watch lust. But every once in a while I come across a watch ad and read more on it.

What did you enjoy about r/watches?

For me, I liked sharing in the excitement of new and seasoned collectors–but especially the newbies. Occasionally there were cool back stories, and even people getting their small collection stolen and the community pitching in a variety of watches to get them started again. Although sometimes obnoxious, the circle jerk was amusing to have around.

Maybe I’ll figuratively get off my butt and post my 3 watch collection.

  • 8th grade. A girl tells me in the presence of classmates, “I love youuuu.” I just think it’s a joke/prank so I reply, “I’m too young!” Later she privately asks me if I meant that. It didn’t click for me until high school.

Fresh out of an all-boys high school, so no interaction with girls since 8th grade. Freshman year college, fall semester. Classmate says she’s cold and hooks her arm in mine on the walk to lecture. This happens every day. Another classmate asks if we’re dating, and I say no, she’s just cold.

Same semester, same class, in a lab section, it’s warm. I ask my lab partner (different from arm girl) doesn’t she feel hot, why not take off her sweater. She looks at my and says, “I’m not wearing anything underneath.” Next day in lecture she’s dresssd up really nice and sits next to me.

Every day in this lecture these 3 girls sit with me. My high school buddy who’s also in the class tells me, while we’re studying, he thinks it’s hilarious that I’m surrounded by girls. I shrug it off.

  • I started with Motorola Atrix, then Motorola Moto X, Samsung S8, S10, Note 10+, and earlier this year got a used iPhone 13 Mini to give it a fair try.

iOS takes more steps to do things that Android can do. It was disappointing coming from the multitasking beast that the Note series is. I miss being able to do scrolling screenshots system-wide, no matter what app. iOS limits it to a few core apps and makes it a PDF… I miss being able to swipe back from either side of the screen. I miss split screen. I miss Samsung’s sandboxed Secure Folder and vastly superior One Handed Mode. I miss a better keyboard experience.

But those are things I gave up for the convenience of a local Apple Store, faster security updates, and being able to troubleshoot iOS better for my partner who’s always used iPhones.

I went almost all in with the 15 Pro; still using my Galaxy buds because they’re comfy. Continuity is nice, already having a MBP and iPad. And I’m having fun messing around with Shortcuts and reading people’s ideas for the action button. It’s not as powerful as Tasker, but that’s only because Apple limits what we can do. Scrolling with 120 Hz is nicer than 60 Hz, comparing the 13 Mini and 15 Pro side by side.

  • Despite the downvotes, you have a point. Sure, it’s only 1 data point for this particular model, and the pressure applied isn’t a measured force that’s been kept consistent across models. But assuming that applied pressure has been relatively consistent over the years and that Jerry’s hand muscles haven’t gotten significantly stronger since the 14 series, there’s a bit of concern.

  • I do full encrypted backups onto local storage, so I appreciate the faster data transfer (which only applies to the 15 Pro/Max right now, not the 15/Plus). My car’s dashcam doesn’t have wifi, so I rely on a microSD reader; transferring videos will be faster.

I already have USB-C to USB-C cables for my MacBook and iPad and previous Samsung devices, so I’m set.

Been seeing some silly sketches about people borrowing chargers from each other.
