Asklemmy@lemmy.ml•Are we at risk of losing classical editions of texts to AI?
9·6 months agoWhat is authentically and originally written is impossible for ai to replace. Write with a quill and ink via candlelight. What is possible is editing. Take your comfort where you find it there. Editing has been changing original manuscripts for centuries for better and for worse

Asklemmy@lemmy.ml•From your standards, are abusive people or those who cause trauma/discrimination “evil”?
1·7 months agoIMO evil is an immutable, intrinsic moral characteristic which is relentlessly harmful to others without remorse. It defines the soul. While varying degrees of this apply to most bad people, I generally don’t think of people as “evil” because they are typically not beyond redemption (i.e. their predisposition is mutable) and there are better ways to descibe them regardless. E.g. X person is racist or Charles Manson is a psychopath.
I also don’t call people evil because it can elevate their status. Being evil becomes

I realize many of this don’t strictly conform to the suckless philosophy. (which is meme imo). They more loosly follow the UNIX principle: Do one thing and do it well. I would have added emacs, but why emacs follows the unix principle is an argument for another time

OP should follow their chosen path and we should commend them for their efforts and support their choices rather than tell them they did it wrong and start over according to our opinions.
