I found the structural engineer!
No, seriously though… I’m shocked at how many people don’t recall “building block” level logic (as in the toys for babies). I even find contractors willing to make structural modifications to homes, bluffing their way through absurd structure ideas (where my roof would have to magically be floating in the air) where the consequences include human life.
IMO, we should all see the image on the right as wrong, as the entire surface payload (whatever you place on top of it) is resting on the four fasteners (and a shearing force on a tiny bit of the particle-board wood).
Destroyed by mold. Could not afford to fix the roof leak above it.

That thumbnail image reminds me of hovercat: https://youtu.be/p1u-R4RVL70
IIRC, it opens a gui modal asking if you want to give the terminal permission to read the folder. Not quite the same, but still weird and jarring.
Repeat after me: “Don’t use floating-point numbers for currency values.”

3·6 months agoIt seems like I’m adding a new “secure private messenger” to my research queue every week. One would think it’s straight forward enough to solve, and that we would settle on one or two as a gold standard.

lol… if they had a job that was ONLY writing unit tests, I would take it!
Kind of the reverse… more lamenting the loss of QA and SRE roles in favor of mechanical (AI) code reviewers and non-technical persons rubber-stamping an increasingly deep pipeline that change requests must traverse.
With that typo, it sounds like a personal insult. :)

Yes and no.
Yes in that (to Microsoft) the copilot product is more important than the strategy that is open-source social coding.
No in the sense that they have already made it that… it’s not 100% cohesive, but “github” is the thing that manages engagment, organizes todos, generates the code, stores the code, performs code reviews, builds the code, deploys the code, answers tech questions, alerts you to security issues, etc. As a product it is an everything-blob… already… right now.
