We see movies, talk about it, free publicy, reviews etc. Apparently in the industry they consider the value of a pirated movie about 1/4 that of a paid one. Some programs etc would pretty much die without piracy like the Adobe suite

minus-square@CptEnder@lemmy.worldlinkfedilink15•5 months agoCan confirm, work in the industry - we don’t care. The only reason there’s anti-piracy stuff out there is because the FBI pressured studios in the 90s to help stop brown people from bootlegging VHSs then later DVDs.
