Aye, question for the wise counsel

1. I cut my own hair
2. I wont pay a professional to cut my hair
3. My hair tends to be too “poofy”
4. Im kinda lookin for a kurt cobain type long to the chin, even length all around style
5. Hair is mostly straight just a tiny bit wavy The question; Is there a product to get my hair to lay down flattish without a “wet” look rather than poof up like a down comforter.
