The bowl is not that big… Hey, first time making it, I took some liberties.
The star anise pod, there’s what, 8 in a family sized batch of broth? It’s still a strange garnish. Basil, not cilantro. Cilantro is for Thai soup.
The star anise was mostly for decoration. My daughter likes to munch on the seeds and herbs from broths and stews, so her bowl had just one.
I feel like it normally has cilantro, though it may just wilt and disappear immediately
Forget food purists, this looks delicious.
