At one point I think there was a website which when provided with an mkv file allow you to watch the movie and make the decisions. Not sure if it is still around or what it was called
They could easily release this to 4K UHD and Blu-ray if they cared. But it’s all just disposable content to them.
It was the only reason I made a Netflix (trial) account.
