On-site consumption of PV output is invisible to the meter, and shows up as a reduction in electricity consumption. Does this matter? Yes, it does.

    I read it the same way.

    Finding out about real energy consumption, in order to plan better for times when wind/ solar stagnates and not need these massive spikes in gas consumption for energy is another. Interesting article, but could have been more concise.
