Colombia has demanded that Israel’s ambassador leave the country amid a dispute over President Gustavo Petro’s remarks regarding the war with Hamas.
Petro’s comparison of Israeli attacks on Gaza with Nazi persecution of the Jews prompted the demand for the ambassador’s departure.
The diplomatic tension has also led to Israel halting security exports to Colombia. Israel had accused Petro of making hostile and anti-Semitic statements, while Petro defended his stance against what he saw as genocide in Gaza.
Colombia’s armed forces use Israeli-made weapons and aircraft, making this rift significant given their historical ties to Israel and the U.S.
Israel is propped up by the US, and Hamas was propped up by Israel. How does the US get away with it? Well it’s functionally not a democracy according to some studies.
Representative democracy is a fig leaf over autocracy. That’s why the only say we get is in which of a select few people have general rulership over us. States don’t represent their people as much as they represent the ruling class.
So they are two nations who disagree with their totalitarian governments. Is that what you are implying given the OP saying People are not in agreement with their leaders actions?
Basically: On one side, there is government staying at power due to threat of US killing their own people?? and on the other side there’s organization basically controlling government who is forced to stay at power under the threat of … getting killed by the first side ? … ehm… okay
My point -> How so their people don’t give a damn if they are almost all against that?
