When the whole Reddit fiasco started happening, I saw a lot of people wiping and deleting their Reddit accounts and moving elsewhere, like here on Lemmy.
Now that it’s starting to die down a little bit, does anyone regret doing that? Or are you glad that you took that step?
No.
Meh… For those who regret their decisions (please don’t), a new account can easily be created. Karma is gamification, it is meaningless.
Nope. In fact, I’m feeling pretty good about it.
14 years on the site, 58K+ post Karma, 130K+ comment Karma - Deleted it all yesterday. It was actually liberating in some odd sense.
The trick is to keep getting banned enough times that your profile is meaningless.
I don’t understand why people are voluntarily deleting their accounts instead of removing or editing their comments and then getting banned. It’s not like reddit has earned a silent exodus.
I kept my account, but deleted most of my posts/comments from the past thirteen years unless I felt it was super important to leave them. Some I’m leaving while watching to see what happens with the subreddit.
I’m done with Reddit though. I didn’t care so much about the API, but when they started lying about talks with the developer and then running roughshod over everything it became clear that they can’t be trusted. How do I know that I’m even being presented with an accurate view of the world – are the moderators hand-picked by Reddit to push an agenda? Can a corporation/government/political campaign buy moderators brokered through Reddit now?
Too many questions with no good answers. So I’m glad I’m gone.
Haven’t deleted mine, but I was mostly a lurker there anyways. So if I do, it wouldn’t mean much. Maybe I’ll interact more here, since many are saying the community is better.
my account is pretty old. I have had multiple attempts to claim it. So im not deleting it. I will allow it to wither and die not participating.
If they start decomming accounts every x months Ill just add it to my calendar to login here and there like I do a few google accounts.
Do I regret leaving a toxic relationship? No, and neither does my mental health.
Nope. The content and community on the fediverse is so much better, and has improved immensely in the last couple weeks. It’s almost like the Eternal September never happened.
It’s probably the healthiest decision I’ve made all year.

Not in the least. Haven’t been on Reddit since the protest started!
