1·4 months agoFrom what I understand the difference between how I code and what has Ben described as TDD in this thread is, that I set up everything first and then try to think of ways people could break the code and then test these vases/try to prevent them.

2·4 months agoYeah of course I Am testing. I Am usually just not writing very extensive tests. I try to break it as much as possible with as little effort and try then to prevent it from breaking.

31·4 months agoAh thanks. That sounds like not that bad of an idea, but for the scale that my projects are at thus is quite an overkill. I usually try if it works in The best case sz scenario and then try to deliberately break it by calling certain functions with garbage as parameters.

Alternatively you can divide by 2, turn it into an int, mtiply it by 2 and check if both numbers are the same.

Science@mander.xyz•Lasers match common herbicides at zapping East Coast weeds
3·5 months agoThe problem with a single laser is, that, in order to achieve bigger working widths, it would have to be able to rotate very accurately, very fast and not shoot your crops at the same time. Especially the latter makes it impossible to use a single one.
You also dont have to “burn” the weeds. It is enough to destroy certain cells to stop them from growing.

Science@mander.xyz•Lasers match common herbicides at zapping East Coast weeds
3·5 months agoThe problem is not that you need to run a single laser, but multiple lasers in order to have some form of usable working width. Then you also need to power the cooling and the computer for the plant detection. If you build some form of small scale robot it should work with solar, but any machine that is designed to get the job done relatively quick probably won’t work.

Science@mander.xyz•Lasers match common herbicides at zapping East Coast weeds
3·5 months agoThe Problem is, that these machines are hella expensive. I heard about costs of about 1.00.000€ + support. The one that I saw also has a newer version, that is probably even more expensive. Additionally you can not even closely match the efficency of herbicides, since equipment designed to apply herbicides has a working range of up to 40m and you can drive with much higher speeds.
So even tho laser looks like a promising solution they are not even anywhere close to being able to replace pesticides. There are other options for mechanically reducing weeds that may not match the efficiency, but are economically far more viable.

KDE@lemmy.kde.social•How do I get these bars at the top and bottom to disappear, when playing games?
1·6 months agoWhen I enter the edit mode of the bar, and then rightclick on the bar again I get this:

Where I can (top to bottom), cocnfigure the taskmanager, chose another task manager, add widgets, edit the general settings of the bar (which leads me to the things described in my last comment), remove the task manager and remove the bar completely.
I am on Plasma 6.3.5

Where i found nothing about visibility, and then theres this thing:

Where I get to choose between “Foreground, Background, Limiting and hidden”
