Dark Brandon is an internet character created by Biden’s White House
Certainly not…
Media still doesn’t understand memes
The consumers? But how could one of them create an advertising? They don’t even have an FCC license. I don’t get it.
Well you see, when a consumer and a product love each other very much…
They still pronounce it meh-mays.
Hey there could’ve been a handful of meme trolls in the Situation Room workshopping this behind the scenes. We’ll never know 🤣
I don’t believe it, because I haven’t seen proof of it.
Doesn’t seem impossible either. It’s probably his most effective branding tbh, just outright mocking the fake conservative panic over basic liberalism.
(The thing they are supposed to be conserving)
I think it would be silly to doubt that the government has ever tried to engineer a meme
Who knows lol
I just realized it’s been a few months since I’ve seen that dumbass let’s go Brandon chant. Dark Brandon was a good way to eradicate it.
Live in a red county, it’s everywhere. Go to the small town high schools. Trump and confederate, and lifted trucks absolutely everywhere.
And good lord, the mullets.
It was a mildly funny meme but jfc they just can’t let it go. They latch onto anything and sew it into their American flags
Covfefe.
Politics being a team sport is fucking cancer.
I work with people who still make Clinton/Lewinsky jokes.
I just saw it on a hat and a shirt recently. Out in public. Do these people think that others are going to engage with them? Or is it just virtue-signaling to other deplorables? Do they have to explain to younger children that their shirt is a cute way of saying the word FUCK?
Or is it just virtue-signaling
Yep
TIL, Russia just being a messy contrarian.
That’s obviously not what the image is suggesting and you are blatantly looking for a reason to be upset.
I was in Phoenix camping this spring. When I was on a short local hike to a waterfall I came across a family wearing MAGA hats. The fresh out of the trailer park attire to match.
One of the young boys had a Brandon hat on while the other had a “let’s go Brandon” shirt. I would have guessed they were 5 and 7. I wasn’t even interested in saying hi as we passed on the trail and they weren’t interested either.
I find it hard to find clothes without any branding for myself. I swear identity by politics has replaced sports team apparel for many now. The sport team flags that use to hang as curtains in those trailer parks have been replaced by Trump flags now. Those flag makers must be making a killing…
The sad thing is that donnie won’t do a thing for such people. Not one single thing.
I’ve tried to see the fun in it but it’s just so shallow I wouldn’t be able to keep it up for more than… two days? The Dark Brandon thing seems like a great idea to make fun of how childish they are without costing more than 1 energy
It’s shit like this that makes me so damn thankful I graduated high school in 2011 and not anytime 2016 and onward. I’d be so fucking sick of all the new Trumpers.
Ahh… so the “Let’s go Brandon” and “F*ck Trudeau” people ARE INDEED the same people.
Who the hell is Brandon? I don’t even remember his name. Such a dumb slogan.
I think it was a Nascar race or something, and the crowd was chanting “fuck Joe Biden”, and the commentators tried to cover it by saying they were chanting “let’s go Brandon” because the driver in the lead was Brandon (something)
Just chanting that in unison… you know… like normal functional people do… 🙄
Just changing that in unison… you know… like normal functional people do…
That’s exactly right. They think mindlessly repeating something that gross is a normal thing. The state of the GOP today.
Mindlessly repeating a gross thing IS normal human behavior, as any high schooler could tell you
It’s kind of instructive that the cons seem to not have advanced past the high school phase.
At a NASCAR race, a bastion of redneckery, a person on camera said Fuck Joe Biden, and the reporter said something along the lines of Let’s Go Brandon, I suppose mishearing the person in a loud venue and/or confusing it for a driver.
It stuck and Let’s go Brandon became a tongue in cheek way of voicing their displeasure with our current president.
On the other side…
Any time Biden has done anything progressive or to stymie the GoP it is his “Dark Brandon” persona that the internet created.
Basically dems flipped the meme, or at least tried to and it became a memetic way to celebrate perceived victories over the GoP, as I understand it.
He’s done a really good job of owning these attacks. I saw him drink from a dark brandon mug during a press conference recently lmao!
Makes me think Obama should’ve doubled down on the tan suit and bought a whole wardrobe of them. And be seen at all times with a giant bottle of grey poupon.
Come down to Florida, it’s still alive and well over here
I don’t think I will
In fact, I’ll stay at least 6 states away
My high ass just realized there are only six states between Florida and California.
That’s a lot of math…
That’s a lot of meth
sigh I’m also in Texas
Honestly, I can’t blame you lol
Oh, if only I could unsee all the trucks and cars with those stickers. Must have seen a half-dozen this week on the road (I drive for a living)
Ive been using “lets go me” as my discord name in one server for a long while now because…its my name. Lets go me
Let’s goooo
Still better than any chode the GOP can drag out of their racist cesspool.
Not thrilled about Biden. But, kinda like Dark Brandon. Need those laser eyes to burn down the GOP.
When he said in the primary that he should be president since he’s the only one with the experience working with republican politicians and could get them to vote with the Dem party to help Americans…
I didn’t believe him, but I didn’t think memes would be his strategy.
So far he’s proven that you can’t work with them, and that his experience doesn’t make a difference to that fact.
I figured Obama proved this definitively.
But you see, Obama is black, and we already knew Republicans wouldn’t work with a black man. But Biden is white, so he proves they’re not just racist, they’re obstructionist assholes as well.
Ehh… true
Yeah the statements like that made me really hate that he was winning the primary. Standing next to obama should have taught him… if you do everything they ask, strip 80% of the good things out of the bill, throw in a few favors to the republicans corporate donors. You will still get 0 republican votes, and if you somehow are able to pass it you will still be called a dictator unwilling to work with them.
In short the lesson is, dont’ try to work with them.
Removed by mod
Memes are the only thing that works for them
Oh, I missed where it was working…
Last I hear Biden’s senate experience couldn’t even get the Dem senators to vote with the Dem party.
When’s the last time this worked? I’d love to read up on it.
You’re talking about the “democratic” traitors who are actually turncoats controlled by the republican fascists and their dirty money.
Wow, crazy Biden didn’t know that when he was saying winning the Georgia runoffs was enough to pass the party platform…
He’s the senate whisper, so there must not have been any signs just a regular joe citizen could have seen this coming.
Still pissed that Manchin played you so hard with the IRA? Rofl cope more, Biden is three steps ahead of you and he’s pretty slow so what does that say about you??
He played me…
By me (and most voters) knowing he wouldn’t support the party platform?
Not Biden and party leadership, who spent over a month saying 50 D senators (including Manchin) could pass the party platform?
That just doesn’t make any logical sense bud.
But what do you expect from someone unironically telling people to “cope”?
They did pass the IRA. I know you don’t want to hear it, but you have to wake up some time.
The dark Brandon mug is pretty cool. Unlike Trump’s shit it was USA made.
So Fox News is taking a break from, what, penis enlargement and NRA ads?
I no longer know which pillow to get
PSA: MyPillow pillows are fucking terrible. You have been warned.
It is an interesting idea. I like the idea of (finally) going on the offensive, but this doesn’t really attack any GOP ideas or candidates.
I do love the idea of embracing the “let’s go brandon” slogan. I just saw some idiots with that bumper sticker the other day. I would love to see Dems take over that slogan and make it seem like all the “let’s go brandon” merchandise is actually on the side of Biden. Unfortunately I think only a small group of people (those who follow memes) really understand what the heck dark brandon even is. But at least the Dems are trying something different and trying to get ahead of certain things, rather than the usual Democrat response which is nothing.
It’s an attempt at doing exactly what Republicans do. They steal a word or phrase and change it to mean something horrible. Democrats really need.to.start playing stupid games too, unfortunately, because the country is losing hard right now.
110% agree.
We don’t need to have everyone stoop to their level, but goddamn it there should be more attacks like Republicans pull. Fight fire with fire.
I unironically shout “Let’s go, Brandon! Let’s fucking go!” whenever I encounter it in the wild. Take it back!
I saw a guy at an Incubus concert in liberal AF Massachusetts wearing a “Lets go Brandon” shirt last year, and I’m still not sure if he was talking about Biden or Brandon Boyd.
How is backing abortion rights not a counter point to the GOP trying to ban them?
Who is saying that it is?
You said
this doesn’t really attack any GOP ideas
But it does. It directly counters their anti-abortion stance.
He’s stating that he supports abortion rights. That’s not an actual attack on what Republicans believe.
Yeah it is?
Biden supports abortion rights. GOP supports banning (removing) abortion rights.
These are opposites.
But he’s not attacking their stance. He’s not saying to them that they should change their minds because of this, this and that reason. He is simply stating that he (Biden) supports abortion rights and that’s probably aimed at the tiny percent of Fox News watchers that might actually support rights - specifically Republican women, I would guess. There are some (a small number, but still some) Republicans who see that this latest push by their own party against abortion is a bridge too far.
The ads are aimed at posts like this on forums like this. Not for fox news viewers.
I’m not sure this is a good idea. Surely this sort of messaging is better aimed at independants / floating voters? You’d think that any republicans who see this are going to go straight into “REEEEE DEMONCRATS SEE WHAT THEY DO THEY KILL BABIES REEEEE” mode and dig deeper into their mindset.
Eh—everyone already knows where Biden stands on abortion. Avoiding the issue suggests that he’s embarrassed or ashamed of his position—it concedes the moral high ground to the Republicans.
Lots of voters prefer a confident candidate to one who agrees with them on everything.
Mmm. Makes sense I guess, you’re saying the intent of these ads is less to appeal to rep voters, but more to show dem voters that Biden is serious about codifying Roe?
I think it’s aimed at swing voters—the kind who voted for both Obama and Trump.
They’re generally lukewarm on the issues, but are attracted to candidates who seem self-assured and confident. The candidates in the debate are likely to be anything but, given their fear of saying anything that might anger Trump’s core voters—so this ad will give viewers an obvious contrast.
Well whatever the intent; I hope it works as intended. We’re having a similar moment here (UK) where we have a reasonable opposition to the godawful conservative party, he’s objectively a better choice yet people on the far left are convinced he’s the devil and go around convincing people not to vote for him. Whereas the reality is, he has to walk a tightrope fighting media bias and can’t be the Ultra Woke Leftie Warrior they want him to be.
Currently polling at 50% vs 25% though, so I have a small sliver of hope that things will change next year.
The ad is designed to keep the abortion issue talked about. Have you noticed how Republicans have gone radio-silent on abortion? They don’t want it brought up. This is a smart move.
Ding. The SCOTUS ruling is wildly unpopular. Republicans literally just took one of their cornerstone issues – abortion – and said, “Nah, we’re done with this,” and handed it to the Democrats to use in elections for several cycles.
“We know we’ve spent decades harping on abortion but you need to stop thinking about it now. Oooh look over there shiny!” That’s why these ads are being run and I agree it’s a good idea. Maybe some additional ads that are like white trailer park looking people talking about how an abortion saved their life or how their baby was stillborn so they had an “abortion” and how traumatic it was and how much more traumatic it would have been to have to carry to term.
They are the dog that caught the car. I remember some maga mom being absolutely enraged when the abortion thing leaked out from the corrupted too-conservative court. My wife asked her…but WHY are you so angry that they are going to overturn Roe? Isn’t that what you want?
This woman screwed up her face and screamed that liberals were going to use it against Republicans. Yeah, no kidding. But it’s what you guys WANTED. For about 50 years. WTAF.
This is the one group that seems perpetually pissed off about everything, all the time, even getting things they wanted and asked for, like tearing up the rights of women, and naming a special counsel for Hunter Biden…who can maintain that level of rage all the time? It cannot be good for your health.
This is the one group that seems perpetually pissed off about everything, all the time, even getting things they wanted and asked for
This is so true! One thing I’ve always loved about American liberal culture (yeah, I know; we’re not really liberal here) is that we laugh at our mistakes. For most of my life, Cable and Late Night comedy shows have been helping us find the humor in the things we would otherwise be enraged about. I feel like it has helped me stay sane all these years. I kind of feel bad for the Fox News-watching conservatives who spend their days oscillating from outrage to fear to outrage again. It must be hell on their cardiovascular health.
The ad isn’t aimed to convert anyone, it’s meant to feed into the social media narrative. Entrenched Republicans aren’t changing their vote, but it could spark interest in younger voters who don’t go to Fox News but read about the campaign.
It’s definitely a good idea. The left has been failing to mock the right for far too long. The only thing that will really stop that movement is if it’s cringey and an embarrassment to be a part of it. It also shows their attacks and strategies as weaks., since dark Brandon started as a rightwing meme.
There are plenty of radical centrists who will watch this shit because they feel obligated to hear out fascists just in case one of them actually manages to form a cogent thought.
These are the goldfish voters. If they do not have their knowledge and beliefs reaffirmed every 27 seconds, they revert to a blank political slate. The GOP has figured it out - these people are the reason why “bumper sticker politics” is so effective. The goldfish phenomenon perfectly explains every paradox and confounding effect in the history of political odds-making - that there is a shockingly large contingent of voters out there whose entire political identity is effectively defined by the most recent political message they attentively received.
I was like 50/50 on voting for Biden before i saw this. Even though this ad is definetly not ideated by Biden (for sure just a campaign manager or a 20 year old intern), standing up for abortion rights front and center on fox will likely make it more so like an 80/20 if I actually like the outcome of it. Will probably be one of the more memorable things from his career for me.
Brilliant, I’m aware that I have resting sarcastic voice even when typing so I mean this genuinely… I’m glad this is having an effect like this on a voter like yourself.
I’m not from USA but feel I have a dog in the fight because what happens over in your country almost always leaks out and affects politics in mine (UK). Conservative party are definitely modelling republican tactics atm.
Yeah, this ad campaign seems rather counter-intuitive if it’s aimed at swaying people.
Do you think for some reason that they don’t already do that pretty much constantly?
Why do you think Fox News would run them otherwise?

Please avoid using “reee” as that is incredibly ableist and is right up there with calling something “retarded”. Do better
Aside from that: A lot of households and waiting rooms still play fox news 24/7. So if some magat’s 18 year old kid sees this and realizes why they REALLY need to not tell their parents who they voted for, it is a win. Same with people in waiting rooms who might be so desensitized as to think “turd and a douche sandwich”.
Also? Pissing off fascists is always funny.

That’s because the origin isn’t “autistic screeching”. It’s the screaming frog. The connection to “autistic screeching” was a later misassociation popularized on Reddit.
https://knowyourmeme.com/memes/reeeeeee
People should be encouraging each other to be better people, but jumping down a randoms throat in self-righteous vigor is fucked up.
Reddit is like Adam… ruins everything
deleted by creator
I wasn’t talking about you with my comment about jumping down each others throat.
A lot of people have no clue that the origin is “autistic screeching.”
This is just objectively wrong, and thus it’s not likely that this is the reason it means anything.
My only point was that interpretations vary, so getting bent out of shape and acting like your interpretation is the only interpretation is a shittt thing to do.

Here is an alternative Piped link(s): https://piped.video/watch?v=RM6EHcPFKCQ&
Piped is a privacy-respecting open-source alternative frontend to YouTube.
I’m open-source, check me out at GitHub.
I’ve always read ‘reeee’ like a pig squeel, which I think fits and doesn’t put down any demographic, except pigs, and they don’t know any better which is why it works.
I can see below that the actual origin is a screaming frog, interesting.
Yeah that puzzle slut is just wrong. It’s making fun of people getting overly angry about something and isn’t punching down at any group whatsoever.

You can do harm even if unintentional.
The response to “you are spewing slurs and being a jerk” is not “How dare you?!? How am I supposed to know everything?” . It is “oh shit, sorry”
And if the difference between someone spewing slurs and acting like an asshole is me coddling them and rubbing their tum tum while asking for them to pwease not use a slur? They are going to be an asshole anyway and are just looking for an excuse to continue being one.
So your default assumption is they are being assholes therefore you are justified in also being an asshole?
Have you heard of the road to hell? It’s paved with good intentions like your own.
If I end up in the hell full of people who flip off bigots and don’t kindly ask people to stop directing hate speech at people I care about?
That sounds awesome:? Being surrounded by a bunch of folk who know how to party, care about not hurting others, and don’t mind speaking up?
That sounds fantastic, until you realize you’re all there because of your shared delusion that you individually know better and understand more than everyone around you. Then you turn on each other, and then hell is functioning as intended.
Tbh that’s not even the issue I have.
Ignoring the whole “being offended for people who likely don’t appreciate someone being offended on their behalf” part, how does one expect to gain acceptance of their ideas by being an absolute dickhead to them?
Even if you have the greatest idea of all time, telling someone to implement it and then calling them a piece of shit leaves people very disinclined to implement anything they’ve said. They’ll be stuck on ‘man that person was a real asshole. Fuck them and whatever bullshit they were talking about’
As for the part we’ve ignored, I honestly thought we were done with that whole thing? That we moved on to actually trying to help people rather than virtual signal about helping? FFS
Let me ask you, have you actually met anyone differently abled who explicitly asked you “I wish you’d be offended on my behalf to random people?”
I’m kinda doubting you have mostly because the last couple of times I’ve seen virtual signalling like this, the groups involved found it demeaning, insulting and harmful. https://www.forbes.com/sites/susanharmeling/2023/01/16/virtue-signaling-on-race-relations-only-hurts-the-cause/
If you actually want to help people, then have you considered donating to charities for those causes? If you’re low on funds, that’s fine, you can volunteer time to help out. The charity runners would really appreciate it and it would go so much farther than this faux moral outrage tactic.

It’s the “…being a jerk” part that is, initially, unnecessary. If they aren’t informed, there is no intent. If they don’t respond well to the initial raw/basic info, that’s a different conversation.
And the difference between someone spewing slurs (etc)
Well said, user Puzzle_Sluts_4Ever
The incredible irony of calling me out for using a ‘slur’ while every comment they make has the word ‘slut’ above it. Beautiful, thanks for pointing it out.
Is this your alt-account?Edit: I think you meant to write “calling them out” instead of “calling me out.”Edit 2: Understood.
You’ve confused me. I think you’re confused also, I was the one who made the initial comment that they called out. It’s Bleeping Lobster all the way down. I don’t have an ‘alt account’ (though I have registered on Sopuli.xyz for those brief moments when .world is down)
Except you are incorrect and trying to marginalize people who nobody else was trying to marginalize. :(
You acting like an authority is the issue here.
deleted by creator
Telling someone they are using a slur and they should do better is just straight up “fact”. Making mistakes is life. Learning from those mistakes and doing better is how you at least attempt to be a good person.
Again, if your issue that has led you to attempt to tone police me is that I told someone to do better: If they genuinely meant no offense (and the OP has made it clear they give zero shits about offending anyone…) then they say “oh shit, sorry”. Simple as that.
And if the only way to get someone to not use slurs and ableist language is to give them a hug and tell them they are a good person? Then clearly they are okay hurting others because somebody didn’t show them the proper deference. And… fuck 'em. They are bigots and bigots deserve no respect.
And it isn’t about “undoing” what people say (although, this is a message board and there is an edit button…). It is about saying “Shit, sorry” and resolving to do better.
For example: Apologies to all the Romani folk out there (and I think it is also used to refer to irish Travellers sometime?), but I and most kids would use the phrase “jipped” which is based on “gyped” which is short for “gypsies” which is a slur for those groups. Funny enough, a lot of us learned that was not cool from an episode of House MD. And we didn’t need to be told “You are good people and we love you but…” any more than we needed to be told that House is a great guy who is not at all racist even though he is being intentionally inflammatory so that Hot Doctor can pull a tick out a vagina or whatever was going on in that episode. It was “… wait, that is a slur? Oh shit. I better not use that anymore”
deleted by creator
Yes. it is a challenge. People should do better. And you know what else is “antagonistic”? Using ableist language to insult large demographics for no apparent reason.
I am not “playing a game” at all. You just seem hellbent on tone policing because apparently the most important thing about confronting someone using ableist language is to make sure THEY feel good.
You fuck up? If it is minor, you take the slap on the wrist and learn from it. Optimally you apologize. That is not the end of the world.
But, much like “he changed his mind. HE IS A FLIP FLOPPER!!!” became the worst sin imaginable, so too has acknowledging fault of any form.
And just because someone is going to think they are clever: I do not acknowledge fault in telling people acting like bigots to do better. Because I want them to do better. And if I am rude to a bigot in the process? Good. Fuck 'em. I intend to make them feel like shit. If I succeed? Even better.
And if they were just acting like a bigot? Then they can learn to do better and this is a heads up that they should check themselves (… before they wreck themselves).
While I immediately dismiss anyone saying “ree” this is ridiculous:
Please avoid using “reee” as that is incredibly ableist and is right up there with calling something “retarded”.
Do better? You need to know your memes better.
https://knowyourmeme.com/memes/reeeeeee
REEEEEEE" is an onomatopoeic expression of intense rage or frustration typically associated with the Angry Pepe character and used by those who frequent the /r9k/ board on 4chan. The expression is often associated with the Autistic Screeching meme, however it is intended to represent the unique croak produced by several species of frogs when agitated.
Just like people are really calling each other “a bundle of sticks” and Pepe The Frog was not coopted by fascists to the point that the creator started a campaign to try to recover their drawing.
You don’t personally get to change the definition for something in your own head and then get mad at everyone else for not going along with your interpretation. That’s not how reality works and all you’re doing in the process is just pissing people off.
Gen Z in shambles
I’m autistic, quite partial to an occasional reeeee myself, so I think I’ll keep using it, but I respect that you find it uncomfortable. FWIW I don’t use retarded as an insult these days.
And I am sure every single person who uses the n-word on the internet is actually black.
Do whatever you want. But assume people are going to think you are an asshole because they don’t have a note saying you have the “right” to use this slur.
I genuinely don’t give a shit what you think of me, I have a clinical diagnosis of autism L1 and I’ll speak how I choose. You’re literally telling off someone with autism for mocking autism, to go with your analogy, I bet you actually do go around telling black people not to use the n-word.
To quote you: do better. Find a more constructive use for your time.
And I am a navy seal who is also a jet pilot with twenty five confirmed kills in a jet and I was on the mission to capture Secret Bin Laden.
It doesn’t matter what you are offline. Online? You are a faceless individual. You could be a third each black, mexican, and jewish (just to cover all the fun slurs) and you would be indistinguishable from a 40 year old white guy wearing a pillowcase on his head who does not have the jew/mexican/black card.
So yeah. I probably have told a few black people to not use the n-word when, in a discussion about Michael B Jordan, a bunch of people decided he needed to be called the “hard r” n-word. I have no idea if 420_JustBlazeIt_6969 is a Canadian albino with african ancestry.
But when I see a black person on the street call someone or something the n-word? I think the use is emblematic of societal issues but it is “their word” and they can do whatever the hell they want. And everyone pretty quickly realizes they “have privileges” from a quick glance… which is a huge issue for lighter skin folk but that is a different problem.
Fun story. A good friend of mine since high school is a trans woman who is into other women (I think she prefers a title other than “lesbian” but I can’t for the life of me remember). She has a tendency to use the “bundle of sticks” slur to refer to things. i.e. “That jacket is really f-y” and so forth. She has dealt with more than enough prejudice in her life that she can use it however the hell she wants and she definitely is amused by how uncomfortable it makes a lot of us. But one time, on a subway, she straight up got approached by what felt like The Gay Mafia tearing into her and calling her a bigot. She looked mortified and the rest of us were trying to not burst into laughter. After those two dudes calmed down she explained that she is gay and it was one of those “oh, shit. sorry for overreacting. But probably try to avoid that”. Still fun to remind her of that every couple of weeks.
Conflating someone’s genuine medical diagnosis with claiming you’re a navy seal / false honour is disgusting, you steamrollered in here to have a pop at someone and have just revealed that you yourself are a shithead. You’re so focussed on being right, you’ve forgotten the human behind these ‘faceless individuals’.
Getting an official diagnosis was a lengthy, difficult process in my country. You claim to care about people with autism yet you mock me for speaking about having it. You’re not the kind person you think you are.
Yeah this is the worst kind of example of behavior. A person who is themselves extremely offensive towards others but sees themselves as a beacon of moral superiority. It’s actually borderline dangerous and I feel like more and more people are bevaving like this.
Then I strongly encourage you to find a way to embed your official diagnosis into every single post you make in any form of social media for the rest of your life.
Or… probably don’t since that would be doxxing yourself.
REEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE
Looks like that copy pasta
Do yourself a favor and go outside.
Where did you draw the connection that “reee” has anything to do with autism? Like most things in reality outside of TikTok, It has absolutely nothing to do with autism. Nobody has to change their behavior simply because someone misinterprets something. If it is genuinely punching down, then sure I get it, but this isn’t an example of that. It’s just a screeching angry frog sound meant to depict people overreacting about anything.
Anyone who thinks you’re an asshole for saying “reeeeeee” is themselves an asshole, so fuck em
It’s not a slur you sensitive dipshit
Do bettreeeeeeeeeeee
I miss the dark Brandon subreddit. It was cheeky.
There’s !darkbrandon@lemmy.world
Edit - how do I link it
I think you need a ‘!’ before it.
I realize it’s important to get your message out to everyone, even on non-friendly media, but it disappoints me that FOX gets paid
As an outsider, US politics seems like a total clown show to me. Everyone involved.
The real clowns are the voters, same in Canada.
Most of the people who could stand to benefit from progressive leaders never show up to vote, or if they can be assed to vote, do absolutely zero research and vote entirely based on emotion or an irrelevant issue.
Government absolutely works, there is a reason its heavily lobbied and every wealthy person votes in 100% of any election possible to further their own agenda.
At least we still have some bread and circus
But wait. Didn’t they vote for this guy? I thought he was supposed to be the “progressive” option.
Oh it is. It’s pathetic.
-an americanAs an insider I can assure you it is.
It is, class and sophistication are dead. We throwin’ handfuls of shit at each other now.
Comolete clown show, but everyone is out of makeup
You can thank cable media culture for curating that over the past 20+ years. It’s basically morphed into an entertainment event with theatrics akin to the WWE.
total clown show
As an American, I agree.
As an insider…. Same…
It is absolutely cringe-inducing.
you are not wrong
The circus comes to town every year.
I’m certainly ashamed of my country.
Why doesn’t he just bring Roe back now.
He is the president right now, this is presumably as powerful as he’s going to get.
If it is within the president’s power to reinstate Roe v. Wade then just do it now.
If it isn’t then stop fucking about.
TL;DR: just do it now
That’s not how governments work, dumbass. Congress makes the laws. Do you kids never learn anything in schools anymore?
Biden is the de facto head of the Democratic party but he himself has no explicit power to create new laws. All he can do is rally Congress, and there aren’t enough Democratic senators to overrule the Republican filibuster.
Biden is not the Supreme Dictator. His power, every President’s power, is limited to the Executive sphere. By design.
So it’s not within his power, so he’s fucking about then.
He said “we”, dumbass
Wtf is wrong with you
Directly from the article:
“Get real, Jack. I’m bringing Roe back,” the ad reads.
This is like being back on reddit.
I’m sorry, are you stupid enough to believe that Joe Biden, alone, individually, can do anything?
Piss off, troll
Directly from me, two fucking comments ago:
it’s not within his power
Dark Brandon is making me watch ads on purpose, dear god.
This is the best summary I could come up with:
The “Dark Brandon” ads will be displayed on FoxNews.com beginning midnight Tuesday running through Thursday morning “highlighting President Biden’s commitment to fighting a national abortion ban and codify Roe,” the campaign said.
Fox News is set to air Wednesday night’s first 2024 GOP debate and make it available to stream for free on its website.
The president’s campaign has also commissioned a mobile billboard circling the debate site in Milwaukee alternating between four ads, all using the Dark Brandon imaging and taglines.
Merchandise featuring the laser-eyed Biden has been popular among his supporters, with the campaign saying it accounts for more than half of online purchase revenue.
“Only Dark Brandon knows where he’ll appear,” Biden deputy campaign manager Rob Flaherty told People magazine, which first reported the Fox News ad buy.
“It also speaks to the sort of strided, swaggy Dark Brandon personality of, ‘Yeah, we’re going to go on Fox News and talk about protecting and restoring Roe.
The original article contains 269 words, the summary contains 157 words. Saved 42%. I’m a bot and I’m open source!
Funny…. But I don’t see this as a good use of advertising.
You’re not swaying anyone visiting the site, and may instead be invigorating R voters.
I think the majority of Republicans (women at least) agree with protecting the right to abortion last I saw it polled. There are many Republicans who could be swayed on this issue who use Fox (for some stupid reason). However, I see it mote about creating this article than actually swaying fox voters. It’s about the meme being spread through other sources because it’s funny that it’s on Fox. It’s cheap advertising all over the internet because of irony.
20 more motes and I can craft an Atlan.
I think this is particularly a good use of advertisement since conservatives would be more likely to spread the advertisements message via bitching about Biden being openly Satanic or w/e
They only support abortion rights when it’s time to fundraise
Now listen here Bub.
Lol Democrats had many chances two codify abortion rights into law over the past checks watch 40 years
Crap, you’re right.
Better not vote for them and just accept having no abortion rights until a viable third party shows up.
OK call me when Democrats give us abortion rights.
Hello, I live in a Democrat-run state.
What’s your phone number
I’m talking about federal level
Oh fuck where did those goalposts go
What’s the fucking difference. Democrats deliver when they have the power to and here’s the proof.
Better not vote for them and just accept having no abortion rights until a viable third party shows up.
Well…if you’re not voting for a 3rd party…you’re accepting not having abortion rights.
You’re right too, it’s better to vote for them and… still accept having no abortion rights
It’s a dumb take because you didn’t suggest any alternative and it sounds like you’re just bitching for the sake of it.
They’re right though. There is no alternative because of the two party system. Obviously republicans aren’t an alternative, so what else is there? It’s a very frustrating situation that makes you lose any sort of faith of the future of the political system.
They’re not right because they’re not discussing in good faith.
It’s a dumb take to state the truth? That’s interesting.
Dems don’t give a fuck, if they did they would’ve codified roe most recently when Obama had both houses of congress.
There’s no alternative, the DNC forces shit candidates down your throat who do shit like what’s mentioned above. The republicans force candidates who exploit the dnc’s lack of fucks they give about you.
What’s your solution? what I already said? Keep voting dems and still not get abortion codified?
To be clear, Obama had both houses of Congress for 72 days and they passed Affordable Care Act and Patient Protection Plan. That’s not nothing.

And how does that make it okay that they failed to codify Roe?
Not to mention the fact that the ACA drafting came from Mitt Romney and failed to provide a proper safety net. We can see that in the fact that the ACA , and especially the individual mandate, have been gutted.
Don’t blame one side for the action of another. You’d still have it if republicans didn’t take it, nothing to do with Dems. Dems didn’t take your rights away, republicans did, blame the right people.
They want you to be apathetic which lowers voter turnout on the left. Keep voting. Not just for the president either.
To what end??? We vote them in and they still refuse to do shit like codify Roe lmao. Vote harder is not a solution to the problem of our representatives failing to represent us
I mean if they’d been voted in there wouldn’t be a republican majority supreme court and roe wouldn’t have been overturned in the first place.
To what end???
To make a better world, dipshit
Ever see a Democratic stronghold state? Guess what they all have codified into law?
All this “democrats wouldn’t give it to us even if they could” is particularly stupid because it is demonstrably false. Plenty of Democrat led states already have abortion rights. And living wage laws. And consumer protection. And stronger health care support. And free community college. And and and
All they needed to do during that time would be to have all three branches of government, with 60+ Senators, and every Democrat would need to be on board with the legislation and felt it was necessary to pass while RvW was being used to uphold the right without legislation.
There was no appealing to Republicans during that time on abortion because they were all lock step in opposing any Dem actions, especially things like this, and the system is already set up to make it very difficult for a small majority to pass anything. After a couple decades of RvW being established, why put in the effort to fail when there were other things that were not already set by precedent which would only go away if conservatives stacked the court with people who make up rulings out of nonsense?
While the Dems come across as wet noodles because they are allowed to not agree, this is something that was impossible for them to pull off at a national level due to Republican obstruction and abortion being one of the main Republican topics that did not allow their members to compromise in any way.
What’s the point of a political party that doesn’t vote in lockstep on major issues? Why should I support them if they can’t be counted on to deliver?
Because we as voters are not in lockstep on ideas, because we’re not mindless drones repeating propaganda. The left thinks for itself, which means we disagree sometimes.
You didn’t actually answer the question
Yeah I did. It’s impossible for democratic politicians to be in lockstep because they serve their constituents and their constituents aren’t in lockstep. It’s a good thing.
Yeah it’s great that a party can’t be trusted to vote as bloc even though they tell us too “vote blue no matter who”
I mean maybe you’re too brainwashed by fascists to understand this, but I don’t believe what I’m told to believe and neither do the rest of my party. We think for ourselves.
So like… yeah, sure, that’s true. At the same time overturning a judicial precedent this well established is an absolute first, and public support for Roe v Wade started relatively low and has been steadily growing since then.
So when you’ve got all kinds of immediate, pressing issues, why waste a narrow political margin on alienating a big swathe of voters by publicly confirming a right that everyone already has?
I can’t fault any individual administration for not focusing on this… I can fault the voters, though.
Yeah but… Their fundraising materials and campaign mailers always talked about “protecting Roe”.
Not any of the materials I’ve received until recently, and those folks have been spamming me for the better part of 20 years.
Yeah, but if that was done they could use it to threaten people into voting for milquetoast moderates…
And it’s a pretty safe bet a lot of them didn’t actually want to pass it for personal reasons anyways.
We need to normalize a competitive primary, otherwise people can go decades between choosing the incumbent or a republican for state/Senate seats.
But if they made human rights not fragile, how are they gonna scare people into voting for the lesser evil?
This guy gets it
Yup, laws are not made by the supreme Court. It’s all about them wanting to create a narrative and common enemy. Neither party cares about you or your rights.
